A really fun week in Scottsdale. I was asked today, "Is there a painting you are still thinking about?". My answer was this Maynard Dixon, "Campo Santo", 5" x 6" Gouache, Estimate $10,000 to $15,000. Sold for $76,050. I was obviously not alone in being impressed. I stopped bidding rather quickly.
Great painting. Happy to see that the other Nudes on your site are sold. I've always has had great success selling Nudes. Sales almost exclusively to women buyers.
Next week... stops in Great Falls for Western Art Week events and then Scottsdale for Scottsdale Ferrari Art Week. Will try to get out to the Celebration of Fine Art to see @sharilyonart.bsky.social as well, plus a stop at the Scottsdale Artists' School. Photo of Shari's work at Marshall Gallery.
I marvel at what I consider to be American Art. Charles M. Russell. This painting is on display at Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West. Looking forward to Western Art Week and the Russell Auction in Great Falls, MT this month.
I stopped by the Tacoma Art Museum today. Two Mian Situ paintings from the Haub Family Collection of Western American Art are highlighted. Well worth taking a look. Plus, I was fortunate to purchase this Situ Oil in 2006 at the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition. I adore it! Enjoy!
Yes, I probably spend too much time on social media. While I love seeing new art, I also find it gratifying to see a post that takes me back in time to a favorite painting. Like this one from Anna Rose Bain, one of many ballerina paintings she has done.
Hi Bluesky! Anything I can do to stay close to the artists I admire is worthwhile of my time. My profile pic is a painting by Rainny Zhao. I quick photo of my home office wall to start things off. I enjoy collecting studies, drawings and sketches.
