New Yorker. Dumb blonde. Old lady. Theater. Sondheim. Dogs. Other stuff. Always grouchy.

I was purchasing week by week due to a pending strike, which was just averted.
We all have our weaknesses. I went back to Chess last night. The two male leads are absolutely stunning.
A bottle of Glenfiddich is sometimes my friend.
She does this beautifully but the song is shoehorned in.
An audience deserves your entire machine to work. We shouldn't have to guess if you are acting.
Thanks for this. I use botox for migraines. My forehead hasn't moved in a decade and I have a less debilitating life. I actually don't like the feeling of it. If I were still on stage, I would stop it. I don't think an actor should put vanity over craft. 1/2
It's a dreadful choice but the audience seemed to eat it up. I guess I'm too old for young audiences. I'll just tune it out and wait for the songs.
Svetlana's song is good but it just seems stuck in.
Getting blasted for a comment. I don't care if, as a stage actor, you get filler to smooth out your facial lines. But once you use botox, you've lost your ability to project your character out to the audience. What works well in tv and film doesn't work for the stage. It is almost painful to watch.
Nicholas Christopher sings the hell out of his part tho I'm unconvinced by his character choice. Maybe he's still developing. Going back tonight to sit front center to see what I missed. Going back mostly for songs. Oh Lea Michelle sings well. Too bad about the botox. I like actors whose face moves.
Ridiculously spastic choreography by a too-large ensemble. Jfc just sing. No costumes or set. Hmm maybe they wouldn't need a narrator if they had these elements. Aaron Tveit turned out to be an almost slimy Freddie, which works because he's impossibly handsome. Bangkok hits hard and fast. 2/3
Sung very, very well. Huzzah! Astonishingly, the book was rewritten for laughs, which mostly come from the unnecessary narrator. I'm still smh over how anyone thinks this is a "fix". They wrote Svetlana a new song which, I suppose, is meant to open up her character, but it doesn't. 1/3
It isn't just casting. In New York, a play written by and starring Tom Hanks is in production. There are so many struggling theatre writers whose work may never be seen, yet here's Hanks. Does he have to star in it too? I'm not anti-Hanks. I just want theatre folks to get their turn.
Ooo we have several diseases to choose from now!
They lost trust in him is what got me.
