Rewatching Frank Capra’s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Jimmy Stewart does an impeccable job as the idealistic senator who grows disillusioned by Washington’s political machinations. I have some thoughts, but still an entertaining film.

Watching others succeed while you’re floundering is frustrating. Wrestle with your inadequacies, with failure, with depression. Creativity is messy, a butcher’s fantasy drenched in pain and torment. Sit with your pain awhile. Play poker with your inner demons. #5amwritersclub

Today’s movie rewatch is the 1938 comedy Bringing Up Baby. Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn are hilarious with the pet leopard. I highly recommend this one.

The best part of Christmas for me was showing my father my latest novel and reading the dedication, which is to him. He quite enjoyed the little slice of immortality.

I haven’t seen The Man Who Came to Dinner in years so I gave it a rewatch today. It didn’t disappoint. What an amazing cast and fast-paced repartee. An overlooked holiday classic from 1941.
