Fun music game.

Take two songs with the same name and post your combined score out of 10. How high can you get?

No covers/no triples (e.g. Power of Love)

My first effort, which i think is hard to beat...

Zombie (Fela Kuti) 10/10
Zombie (The Cranberries) 7/10

Back on the Internet airways again tomorrow with some rustic radio stuff. I might be a bit shit, but the music will be good. Link for catcher uppers on Monday www.lovewillsavetheday.fm

Airways are the bits between the airwaves, it's all good 👍

In today's episode of turning anything into a toy, the dog has arrived in his new home from kennels and is triumphantly running around with a plunger.

You mean he killed a man in Moscow just to watch him die?

Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick
A man in a suit stands at a microphone which has been mounted on the roof of a van. There are loudspeakers at his feet, and a building behind him. He has an arm raised, and is flinching as projectiles are hurled at him, because he's a fucking Nazi

Maybe pay that if it was the Green Door Store.

It's bad enough that being a musician is becoming a preserve of the middle classes but if you can't even get into the cheap seats for a day on minimum wage then everything is fucked. I paid £22.50 to see U2 in 1993 which was half a day's supermarket salary (or 2.5 hours Sunday double pay)

P.S keep meaning to reply but if I'm not in Cardiff I'll be coming along.

You're definitely lowballing your Brighton show.

They had about 100 dancers and a backing band so hopefully everyone was getting paid. Also a bunch of the setworks were bespoke for a 4-night run so I'll let them off.

Funnily enough there's quite an internet wormhole you can do down to see what the custom kit they've built is. I think they might have been the first band to use laptops live. Even when I know what's going on I still find someone using a laptop odd.

I can understand £100ish for a stadium show but not for a 5,000 capacity indoor venue. I think I paid £75 for Pet Shop Boys at the Royal Opera House (went up to around £200) but you could see where the money was spent!

And yes, it is only one of them left - my favourite bit of the show is when the gig ends and he checks his watch to see if they've played for exactly 2hrs and he looks a bit disappointed with the audience if their cheers have pushed it a minute over schedule.

"Yeah I could have gone to that new Michelin star restaurant but you don't get the chance to spend this much money to chat through a band you'll never see again very often"

Thankfully they've now released extra floor seats for £187.95.

£108.95 (ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT POUNDS AND NINETY FUCKING FIVE PENCE) PLUS BOOKING FEES JUST TO SIT DOWN AT A KRAFTWERK GIG IN BRIGHTON.

Everyone in Bristol on the big dollars these days!

It was a really good year for pop on the Glastonbury telly.
seanedmund.bsky.social
Two tickets for that aren't far off what we paid for the entire weekend in Bilbao to see them play the Guggenheim.

Really annoying I can't find decent video of her and Goat from Glastonbury - first time she'd performed with them, no rehearsal, straight out on stage and absolutely killed it. She's so good. Don't know much of that scene either but Nyege Nyege and Hakuna Kulala keep releasing great stuff.

And weirdly he got into modular synths because of the Beady Eye stuff with Liam Gallagher. Dave Sitek off of TV On The Radio produced an album and brought all his noodly kit with him.
seanedmund.bsky.social
He has! His GLOK stuff is brilliant and his solo stuff - including the superb Pye Corner Audio remixes - is ace.
seanedmund.bsky.social
Just checked the set list for that and they weren't even doing the good one (One Big Family). Not sure that even the absence of Hurricane #1 can make up for that.

Thing is, I love Ride and Andy Bell's work post-Oasis has been absolutely brilliant so I don't like dissing his work. But it's just not very good. Except maybe as a reminder that the first Embrace EP is quite good.
