I work in the Cadets Canada program. We take shy and unsure 12-13 year old youth and turn them into strong, confident and driven leaders by the time they turn 19 and head out into the real world. Thousand of cadets and hundreds of units. Don’t tell me there is nothing out there for our youth to do.

I have spent over half my life in one uniform or another (14 years with the Cadets program and over 15 with the Canadian Army). I am the 9th Generation of my family to serve King/Queen and Country.

After an incident today, while on patrol, all I can say is this:
When you see your wife, husband, father, mother, son, daughter, or any other loved on in your family…..give them a hug and tell them you love them, because they could be gone in the blink of an eye.

If there is anything that I have learned over the last 17 years in the Security Industry, especially the last 5 or 6, the Government and the Advocacy Groups have NO interest in ending homelessness and addiction. It’s become its own Billion Dollar industry, and it’s frustrating to watch in person.

I quit smoking 30 years ago. I quit alcohol 7 years ago (as Leo McGarry said on the West Wing, "I don't have a drinking problem. I have a stopping problem). While the cravings still exist, I will never go back. To all those who found their path to sobriety, keep up the good fight!
