Street Art here in Portland, OR is next level. I love this artist’s work and see it often on walks in my hood. #shanaleehampton

My diagram of streetcars in Portland as they existed in 1915, informed by all of this research I've been doing! Grouping and color-coding lines by the bridge that they cross the Willamette on was a pretty clever idea, if I do say so myself.

"Water’s presence in a city is difficult to notice. It’s like training your eye to see negative space—absence is the story.”
Josephine Woolington writes about learning to see the many hidden and buried waterways that shape Portland.

One of the most strangely interesting photos I ever took. On the MAX near downtown Portland, OR. The young woman in the background may have been a ghost.

Photo from November 1905 reporting on the "deplorable" overcrowding of cars on the Mount Scott line. A man clings to the back of the car while four ladies who could not board look most displeased. Myrtle Park station was on SE Foster Road between SE Gladstone and SE Boise streets.

Portland has one of the widest collection of independent bookstores. If you visit here and go to Powell's, I would suggest Parallel Worlds (fantasy/sci fi focus, tiny space) in Northeast Portland. Such a good balance of new, used, and collectible/gift options. www.parallelworldsbookshop.com
