Finding balance isn't always easy...

It takes time, to understand a brief, to explore all possible solutions, to adjust things, to make it all work.

In unsurprising news, AI-powered robots can balance bouncing orange ping pong balls very quickly!!

I do my best work under pressure...

This substantial piece; Untitled, 2023, is the work of Italian artist Arcangelo Sassolino – the tension here between the soft flowing ream of paper and the cold metal vice is wonderfully palpable.

I took pictures from an early age and became fascinated by the technology and intricacy of the hardware and creative possibilities for expression.

This wooden masterpiece: Untitled (CE Wood Hasselblad), 2008 was made by the artist genius that is Tom Sachs: www.tomsachs.com

These are the striking PANTStone trousers, designed by the conceptual artist David Delahunty.

As a designer, I'm clearly biased, but these are wonderful!

His work is simple, clever, playful and thoughtful, and shows the impact that thoughtful art and design can have.

I've always been a fan of Andy Goldsworthy's work and feel his ephemeral but sculptural works, created in and entirely of, nature, are as memorable and powerful as any museum piece.

Where do ideas come from? Idea generation is a mysterious art. Some apply science to help creative ideas appear, and whilst I understand the urge, I also love magic.

This is an amazing video shot by the scientists at MIT that shows the exact moment that life begins...

How we all feeling on the Sleaford Mods’ mood scale?!

The scrabble to remember what you're doing and who you are is very real!

I think I'm a slightly bemused 7 BTW.

Two bowls and a chopping a board...

Or do you see something else? Well, Berlin-based designer Emil Schwärzler certainly did when staring at the dishes he'd just washed up after dinner.

Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow...

This sentence contains every letter in the English alphabet and, as the ever clever Language Nerds observe, is eminently cooler than the traditional "...quick brown fox..."

Expect to see this in your brand guidelines moving forwards.

This is a wonderful piece by the UK based artist Imbue, a Trojan Horse, made entirely out of used Amazon delivery boxes.

As the artist says himself:

“Amazon didn’t take over by force and kill the high street. We opened the door and invited them in.”

Have you ever experienced Synesthesia...?

What colour is the number 13?
What sound do you hear when you see a red square?

The "Galactic Glitch Dress" by fashion designer Iris Van Herpen, is inspired by the perceptual phenomenon of Synesthesia...

I've been busy in the last few weeks. I'm not complaining, but it's good to acknowledge that the elusive 'work/life balance' never seems to get any easier to find.

"Body Sculpture" by Jordan Wolfson shows the busyness of being in business (and a human) nicely: www.davidzwirner.com/artists/jord...

How about a Death Star dinner service...

The classic Petit Boule from Villeroy & Boch is now available in a jazzy 'Miami' colourway which, presumably unintentionally, looks quite a lot like the iconic Star Wars Death Star...

Nothing is what it seems...

So much that looks like an actual thing, might just not be any more, and that's confusing.

But this lovely piece of furniture, the Bug 3060 designed and crafted by designer Ivan Voitovych, is an actual physical (glitchy) table.

Keeping to your rhythm is hard...

In music as much as life, and this playful piece by musician and experimental artist Iftah perfectly demonstrates this via the wider musical art of 'phasing' – equally infuriating and calming, I love it!

It's what's inside that counts...

Sculptors have always looked for what's hiding inside the material, carefully carving stone and wood to 'reveal' what they see and feel.

And "The Birth of a New Hero" (2008) by Taiwanese artist Tung Ming-Chin is a beautiful example

Using ideas and materials unexpectedly – this is where my real value lies.

This wonderful hand-carved wooden vase, hewn from a block of oak by artist and maker Mathieu Goosse, beautiful and intriguing, but hard to pick up, shows this so well.

It's important to take a break...

This 'Hopperesque' work, part of the "Sleeper's Window" series by artist and photographer Hana Katoba, shows this so beautifully, or as she says...
