Dismantling the Department of Education will hurt students and educators in Maine and across the country. The Administration's attempt to outsource functions of the Department to other federal agencies is not only harmful to our young people, it's illegal.

December 7th, 1941, lives in infamy for the attack on Pearl Harbor — a day that changed history. It also stands as a testament to the American spirit. Today, we continue to draw strength and inspiration from the heroism of the U.S. servicemembers who bravely answered the call.

Charles Shay was a world-class, courageous individual who gave honor to Maine, his tribe, his community and his country. I know he will be missed around the country, but especially at home on Indian Island. My warmest wishes go out to his family and many friends.

The Geneva Convention is clear: calling for deadly attacks against survivors is a war crime. Period.

America is great because America is good. If we want to live up to that ideal, Congress must investigate these boat strikes and hold those responsible accountable.

The H-2B visa program is a lifeline for Maine small businesses — helping employers meet increased demand when the local workforce is insufficient. I'm calling on the Administration to release the maximum number of these visas to support our seasonal economy.
Supply of H2B visas falls short of Maine hotel and restaurant needs heading into winter season
U.S. Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins asked the departments of Homeland Security and Labor to release maximum amount of H2B visas for 2026.

On Veteran’s Day, we honor the brave Americans who have answered the call to defend our nation and protect the values that make it great. If you have a veteran in your life, I hope you’ll join me in thanking them today for their service and sacrifice.

If a tactic isn’t working, you switch your approach — especially when millions of Americans are hurting.

This new agreement would keep SNAP benefits flowing and ensure workers get paid, all while providing an opportunity to protect ACA tax credits.

Two years ago, the unthinkable happened when tragedy unfolded in Lewiston, claiming 18 lives and shaking our Maine community to its core. Today, as we continue to heal, we focus on lifting each other up, remembering the lives we lost, and trying to prevent it from happening again.

Nearly 170,000 Maine people rely on SNAP to put food on their tables, but these benefits may lapse due to the shutdown. There are many ways for the Agriculture Department to free up funds, and I'm urging the Secretary deliver this vital aid.

After two agonizing years, the war is over and the living hostages are home.

Needed aid is entering the Gaza Strip and the deceased are being returned for proper burials, including two Americans.

America’s role in the world makes a difference. Thank you to those who made it happen.

On October 7, 2023, more than one thousand Israelis, and several Americans, were brutally murdered or taken hostage by Hamas terrorists.

We must never forget. Today, let us recommit to peace and, once for all, bring the remaining hostages home.

I was honored to attend the christening of the USS Louis H. Wilson, Jr. this weekend, a flight-three destroyer built by the hardworking men and women at Bath Iron Works. Maine continues to lead the way in helping our military keep us safe at home and abroad.

Today is National Public Lands Day, a day for Maine people and folks across the country to celebrate America’s natural heritage and reaffirm our role as stewards of these lands for future generations.

Admission is FREE to all national parks today — get out there and enjoy them!

This administration’s ‘ready, fire, aim’ approach to cutting programs like Veterans Upward Bound is dangerous. That's why the entire Maine delegation is urging the Education Secretary to make it easier for veterans to access education, not harder.
Trump administration cancels USM college program for veterans
Veterans Upward Bound helps Maine vets go to college, but the U.S. Department of Education is cutting its funding, saying the program 'conflicts' with its priorities.

Steamed, boiled or on a buttered roll, there’s no wrong way to enjoy Maine lobster! On National Lobster Day, we recognize the cultural, environmental and economic importance of the iconic crustacean — and the men and women who power the fishery every day. 🦞🦞🦞

Shoemaking is about as quintessentially Maine as lobster or blueberries. I was proud to attend the opening of New Balance’s factory expansion in Skowhegan — a $65 million investment and testament to the skilled and dedicated workers across the state.

Thousands of Maine people rely on paper checks for Social Security, veterans benefits or tax refunds. We need a thoughtful transition, not a financial disruption. I’m urging the Administration to delay this change and protect all who rely on paper checks.

Secretary Kennedy preaches "radical transparency,” but blocking public input on our health policy doesn’t feel transparent — it feels dangerous.

This is a threat to public health and Congress needs to hold him accountable.

Only Congress holds the authority to change the name of federal departments. Full stop.

America hasn’t had a “Department of War” since WWII. If you're talking about having been nominated to work for the Department of War, you're 78 years too late.

Had fun visiting with @laurengreennn.bsky.social to share some classic Maine fashion tips, as well as discuss the *tie* that binds our nation — the Constitution.

Our national parks are “America’s Best Idea.” Senator Steve Daines and I are working to protect them through the America the Beautiful Act so future generations can explore and enjoy their beauty, too. It’s time to invest in our public lands.

Hardworking Maine people shouldn’t pay more taxes than a billion-dollar company. The corporate alternative minimum tax was put in place to ensure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share. This law should be strongly enforced, not weakened.
