Nurse-legislator representing Pennsylvania's 12th Senate District in Montgomery County. Democratic Caucus Chair.
I joined a briefing with @sbworkersunited.org and fellow lawmakers to hear about Starbucks workers' fight to unionize stores in Philly, Pittsburgh & across PA. ☕

They're organizing for safer working conditions, better wages and adequate staffing - but Starbucks has refused to come to the table.

No student should have to miss class just because they're on their period.

I'm poud to share that this year's budget invests another $3M to provide free period products to students in all of PA's school districts, intermediate units, career and tech centers, and brick-and-mortar charter schools.

As a lifelong advocate for our children, I cannot let Sen. McCormick's Wall Street talking points go unchallenged—because the health of our Commonwealth is at stake.

Americans' healthcare is on the line with ACA subsidies set to expire at the end of the month.

Today, Republican U.S. Senators voted to BLOCK affordable healthcare for millions, including hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians.

If our elected officials allow the ACA Enhanced Premium Tax Credits to expire, it will be a DISASTER for our health systems, especially for our patients in our rural areas. Tell your Congress member to protect access to healthcare: bit.ly/protect-our-...

If we want to build a safer, healthier PA, we need access to affordable healthcare for everyone – including reproductive care.

As an RN, I'm proud to join @pasenatorcappelletti.com and Sen. Schwank to send a clear message: we will not back down in defending your essential health freedoms.

On January 1, Delaware will become the latest state to adopt a paid leave program.

We can make Pennsylvania next by sending the Family Care Act to Governor Shapiro's desk. Because working families deserve better.

Thanks to champions like @mcbride.house.gov showing us what is possible.

This week, Governor Shapiro signed HB 923, the companion bill to my and Senator Frank Farry's SB 731, into law, ensuring that older Pennsylvanians don't lose access to the PACE & PACENET prescription assistance programs due to an increase in their SS payments.

When masked agents target hardworking members of our community, not dangerous criminals as they claim, we will not remain silent.

I am proud to support @pasenatorcappelletti.com and @pasenatorsaval.com's legislation to improve transparency, safety and public trust.

No one should be denied professional opportunities because of their hair type, texture or style. Today, Governor Shapiro signed the CROWN Act into law, prohibiting hair discrimination in Pennsylvania. 👑

Thanks to Rep. La'Tasha D. Mayes and Speaker @repmcclinton.com for their steadfast leadership!

It's been nearly a year since Philly Whole Foods workers voted to become the first unionized Whole Foods Market store in the country with @ufcwlocal1776.bsky.social.

Amazon still refuses to bargain, but we're not backing down.

Accessible, affordable child care is only possible if we uplift the hardworking teachers and staff caring for our young families.

This year's PA budget strengthens our child care workforce by making key investments and raising wages.

As a nurse, I know staffing shortages strain care teams and patients alike.

That’s why we created the Nursing Shortage Assistance Program to recruit and keep nurses at the bedside through student debt relief, matched by partnering hospitals.

We secured a $875 million increase in education funding as part of the 2025-26 PA Budget.

That includes $40M more for special education and $175M in savings thanks to first-time ever cyber charter funding reform.

With this year's budget, we're putting more money back into the pockets of working Pennsylvanians, including more than 30,000 families here in Montgomery County.

That’s real relief—for groceries, for gas, for keeping the lights on.

I applaud @governor.pa.gov's swift action to immediately release 100% of November SNAP benefits to nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians following Thursday's federal court ruling.

If we want an economy that leads the nation, supports families, and enables small businesses to thrive, it’s time to pass the Family Care Act.
