To elope to Gretna Green during the Regency Period might allow a couple to marry without familial consent... but it would also often result in being shunned from family and societal connections. It was a huge risk. #regencyperiod
What's black and white and red all over?
My rough draft after I edit it. Don't fear the red pen.

Story and narrative can be the same but don't have to be. Story is always chronological, but narrative doesn't need to be. Narrative can be shaped, structured, and built to maximize reader resonance or enjoyment. #writingcraft
What first sparked your desire to write? For me, it was growing up with stories like Winnie the Pooh, Little Women, Little House on the Prairie, Anne of Green Gables, The Babysitter's Club... and knowing that to tell stories is to live many lives in one. #writinginspiration
How do I support writers working through imposter syndrome? By helping them build a foundation of deep understanding of their why, craft confidence and reader response expertise, and time & experience working professionally with their fiction. sbee.link/6u7ywea8tf
It is puzzling! If I learn anything new I will definitely share! Thanks!
Have you seen the film Belle? It's really good, especially if you're not afraid to experience history without the rose-colored lenses. #perioddramas
Interesting. I hadn’t seen that in scholarly sources yet but I will look into that. Either way, the treatments he was subjected to were nothing short of torture. And no one deserves that, even if they are despotic.
It is now widely agreed that George III had porphyria, which led to his madness and necessitated the Regency Period from 1811-1820. Some of the treatments used would have actually triggered flareups of this illness. #regencyhistory
For stories that can really resonate with readers, everything comes from character... even plot. This doesn't mean you can't write a plot-driven story, but it does mean that it has to make sense for your protagonist, not the other way around. #writingtips
There was a time when I thought I would stop writing... and a significant piece of me started to feel smaller. I felt I was losing myself. Have you been there? If so, this is your reminder that it doesn't matter what you write... but if you feel called, go write. #writinginspiration
What's your favorite adaption of Pride & Prejudice for film/tv? Are you looking forward to the new one coming out soon? #prideandprejudice
Would you like to have asparagus or oyster ice cream? It was a delicacy during the Regency Period (1811-1820). I'm a picky eater but even if I weren't, neither of those would appeal! Give me cookie dough ice cream over those any day. #regencyfood
My backlist book (which is not regency but does have a romantic thread), Daughter of the Seven Hills, was shortlisted for an indie historical fiction author event at a local bookstore. I've done one with them before, and it was loads of fun! #booknews
Expect a first draft to be awful. No one 💩's gold. And... that is what revision is for! #writingtips
That’s awesome!!!! Way to go!!! 🥳🥳🥳 Thanks for sharing!
Do you have ten minutes today? What if you spent those ten minutes writing? Forget word count. Forget "good writing." Just put words to paper/screen. You've got this! #writinginspiration
