Hi! I post hilariously obscure video game trivia and have a silly little youtube channel about things I find cool in fighting games: https://linktr.ee/SeventhForce

DLC is an expected part of fighting games these days, but there was a time when it was a novel concept for the genre. Here's a look at some of the earliest fighting game DLC characters, including the very first DLC character. It's probably not who you think!

New Video! It's time. A nearly 90 minute breakdown of all of Morrigan's playable appearances in the Capcom produced Vs. series titles. Reposts and such appreciated!

That's going to be a separate video on SNK developed crossovers in the future

Might actually have this done by tonight. We'll see.

Always a pretty hilarious time when you look at system mechanic changes between fighting games and can instantly tell which ones were meant to put certain characters and moves into the dirt

Up way too late getting editing done. Just finished out the Tatstunoko Vs. Capcom section of Morrigan's video and so far we're up to 55 minutes, with Marvel 3 and Marvel Infinite still to go.

This is easily going to top Dante as the longest video I've ever worked on, damn

I hate how much I relate to this lmao

lmao have a good time out there man

Unironically one of the best to ever do it

Yeah, I don't know if it's the pacing or the game taking long to really ramp up, but Galaxy 1 always struggled to keep my attention. 2 on the other hand, has more complex level design from the jump and feels more engaging.

Both are great, but 2 is becoming one of my favorite 3D platformers period

Yeah, that definitely tracks. It really is interesting seeing this dev team kind of evolve from Galaxy onwards, I can even see the makings in Galaxy 1 & 2 of design sensibilities that persist in Bananza

And as someone who's Mario Top 10 includes 3D Land and 3D World, it's so interesting seeing Galaxy 2 particularly as the genesis of those games' approach to 3D Mario level design

Mario Galaxy 1 was always a weird game for me because it's objectively good, but parts of it kind of bored me and I'd always bounce off of it after a while

Galaxy 2 though? Playing it for the first time and this is clicking with me WAY more. I know it started as an expansion but this shit is FIRE.

Asking the real questions

Mario Galaxy 2 is so good man wtf
seventhforce.bsky.social
Oh damn, these were INCREDIBLE

Got the standard ending for Galaxy. Always respected Galaxy even though I'm more of a 3D World & Odyssey guy, but this time something finally clicked for me. Looking forward to getting the other stars, not looking forward to doing it again as Luigi

Galaxy 2's gonna be new for me so that'll be fun!

I bought Galaxy 1 & 2 on Switch primarily to be able to play them on a standard controller, but I think this might actually be the first Switch release ever where I prefer playing with split joy cons instead

Just a small reminder that the first 30 minutes of the Morrigan video is available for Patreon subscribers! Full video should be out by the middle of the month.

Only just finished editing the MvC1 portion of Morrigan's video and already at 25 minutes and counting on video length

...this is definitely gonna be one of the longer ones

Really glad to see Metroid NES as the centerpiece of this discussion. Zero Mission is really, *really* good, but I think NES Metroid being a much lonelier game with a bit more openness (even compared to sequence breaking in ZM) still lets it stand out postively today, dead end rooms and all.

Wait, there's a separate one from the one you get for 1000 points? Diabolical work
