Problem with this is that I have way less time to draw to quickly fulfill doodles/spread propaganda like I did for cyl9. I’ll need people to help me rally more next year, but I think a lot of people won’t be voting for Xane.

Thinking abt cyl10 Xane rally. 1 vote = 1 drawing (same as last year: 4 = simple style; 7 = full render) but if you give all 7 votes to Xane, you can get an extra drawing (debating on doing a raffle for a full render piece or 1 additional colored sketch in general to everyone who does 7 votes).

The marriage event where he literally asks Frey what kind of ring she’d want, being apologetic about keeping distant for a bit while he secretly crafts rings, wanting to save her ring for last so it’d be the best one (I don’t have screenshots for the latter but it’s in the event).

The fact that Doug actually sucks at crafting despite dwarf speciality and stereotyping but because Frey is so important to him he goes out of his way to put effort into something he actually avoids bc he probably associates it with his dad whom he lost.

The dating prompts that basically show he is MORE THAN WILLING to return affection given to him and showcase openly that he loves her. He’s so direct and validating with his love and feelings for her that I really don’t have words to say except MARRY HIM!

ALL THE LITTLE THINGS— him complimenting her in random dialogue like suggesting wearing brown for farmwork bc dirt won’t show up much. If Frey asks if it’ll look good on her, he immediately responds with “yeah it would”.

The mini event where Doug finally starts explicitly hinting more affection for her (the one you get when you aren’t dating anyone) feels very much like an “okay I’m ready to handle the next step in a relationship” despite the fact Frey acts really dense to test the waters (imo)

(and plays off her feelings until she can express them at the right time) if you decide to pursue him. She waits for him to be ready to move onto a deeper stage of friendship and eventually dating and marriage.

If you think about Doug's story lock progression/his heart levels, I can definitely interpret that as Frey being interested enough in Doug to want to learn more about him to slowly allow him to build trust with her before sharing her affections for him

He's happy when he talks to her to the point Blossom asks him if something happened (Frey) to make him visibly so much happier and Doug gets flustered by that idea. While he is spying on her and Venti bc of his duty to the empire—he’s obviously still genuinely worried abt her

ALSO, the drama CD content is basically a narration of Doug slowly gaining affection for Frey and being worried about her safety throughout all her dungeon crawling in the first arc early dungeons. (He also gives her a magic tome she can use to approach enemies differently—

—even if saying it all makes him embarrassed in the end (nothing is more important than conveying how much she means to him because of what he definitely could not tell his parents before they died + him outliving her is likely too—he’s got to say it now lest he regret it later)

Frey is canonically Doug's first love (you get this dialogue when you marry him), and there are so many tiny moments that showcase how much she means to him in the way he makes sure to convey his love and affection for her very explicitly without room for misinterpretation—

There's a lot of dialogue that he says that paints Frey as being such an important person to him that he really would not have turned out the same way if he had not ended up with her. This is seen through his dating dialogue and some marriage dialogues.

Even his silent treatment in arc 2 seems very forced. Yes, he is torn and at a crossroads but it visibly hurts him to have to treat her so coldly while he sorts things out within himself.

I really doubt Doug wanted to be hostile and closed off from her. Frey doesn’t read as someone who would betray someone else as she is very honest and pure. And that is why I believe he struggles to maintain a distant character while interacting with her.

Doug initially doesn’t trust Frey (due to his undercover spy work) but he helps her in collecting the rune spheres and gives her the last one because he grows to trust her despite not being able to trust Venti (and he's been around Venti way longer than Frey).
