We have a very limited amount of pawpaws in store this weekend. They're tasty but remember: please do not cook/bake your pawpaws. Just trust us on this one.

Reminder: The Cuterie Cart is popping up with us THIS Saturday, October 11th from 12pm-330pm

And more exciting news: Loaves by Lyss is joining the fun! So fresh sourdough, spooky treats, and locally-sourced groceries. What more could you ask for?!

But look at how nice those shelves look. Now I just need money to order more product to fill them.

I got home just in time to let me dog out for her 230am pee

So an hour-long project took 6 hours all because IKEA decided to change materials in a signature item in their collection
seymourfoods.bsky.social
So at 730pm, we had to completely scrap and redesign our plan to accommodate for these mismatched shelves, which meant:

1. Empty shelves
2. Move veneer shelves to one part of the, effect to another part
3. Assign everything to a new spot
4. Drowning our sorrows in hot sauce hummus

We checked our receipts and even peeked into LBB's windows to make sure she didn't end up with our shelves. Nope. These are the birch shelves.

Turns out, IKEA changed the materials on the Billy Bookcase. Our old shelves are "Birch Veneer" and the new ones are "Birch Effect"

We bought a few more shelves for the store so we can have our chips on shelves instead of building displays out of boxes. We opened the boxes to discover that they are slightly lighter than our existing shelves, only noticeable when they're side-by-side.

Update: Loaves with Lyss is joining the fun too so come get delicious sourdough! (She's also at @pawtucketmarket.bsky.social every Friday)

Oh snap it's our birthday!

PSA for those wanting to save money: I picked up some tomatoes from Confreda yesterday in honor of #RIGrown week. Retail $1.99/lb (before discounts)

These are conventional so you will want to make sure to wash thoroughly

So I guess ultimately, if all food spending is down, is anyone eating properly? Especially if money is a factor.

Market Basket is also the best option for anyone on a tight budget. So there's not really any incentive to shop elsewhere if money is your primary concern (plus their quality is usually better than most big box)

(SNAP benefits are released on the 1st of the month so they get to buy food for the month. So grocery stores + farmers markets are packed the first week of every month.)

So is it slow because folks are worried they didn't get their benefits or are folks conserving their food stamps?
seymourfoods.bsky.social
Admittedly, we've been feeling sorry for ourselves because it's been SO SLOW.

A friend told me that she went to Market Basket today and it was empty. She asked the cashier wtf was going on and the cashier said that Wed was the slowest 1st of the month she's experienced in her years of working at MB

Update: business as usual. EBT is functioning as normal with no issues
seymourfoods.bsky.social
I am worried for an unhoused guy I know whose benefits were suspended while he was in the hospital. They made him reapply when he got out last week and his case is pending. There's no protocol listed in the contingency plan regarding new or pending benefits applications (retailer apps are on hold)
seymourfoods.bsky.social
The contingency plan called for it to be scheduled in or before September so that should be the case. Not sure why TotilPay is panicking.

(DUFB is funded through April so that money is safely with Farm Fresh, to my knowledge)
seymourfoods.bsky.social
But if you don't want to read:
-WE should hopefully be able to process EBT per the contingency plan + our processor isn't sounding the alarm yet
-Farmers markets will not be able to process EBT because the service used by most markets already sounded the alarm
-Fresh bucks & Bonus bucks = safe

Queue panic as the first of the month is when benefits get loaded and the market is busy with EBT/DUFB transactions
