The summit also included two morning workshops on public speaking and identifying disinformation, for which our local team was joined by our volunteers from Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and Canada.

The main discussion topic of the event was whether Iceland should join the EU, but we also covered regulation and growth, economic freedom, and a broad range of other topics.

Centralised IDs are a slippery slope. Once the government gets the power to mandate your identity digitally, where does it stop? Healthcare? Travel? Banking? Employment?

You read that right. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is about to announce that anyone starting a new job in the UK will need a government-issued digital ID. The reason? “To fight illegal immigration.”

🇧🇪 Belgium now SUPPORTS the compromise proposal IN PRINCIPLE, despite contradicting promises to citizens: reverts to UNDECIDED.

🇮🇹 Italy is UNDECIDED, expressing doubts on including new CSAM in scope.

🇱🇻 Latvia is UNDECIDED but assesses the text positively, pending national support.
