Good governance isn't sexy, its doing the basics right, picking the stuff that works. Good systems for administration, good research and development, simple implementation processes, asking the people who know/are affected what could be done, its not hard. Its just hard to tell governments.

Id guess 10k is nothing, If long term, if you're going to develop the land. Or rent/flog it it to a corporate farm/tax avoidance scheme as its now arable land and not forestery.

Ahh, I thought the fines for offences in the district had been upped in general! But its worse the I suspected.

It doesn't, but there's next to no enforcement for anything related to nature,and even if there is, its probably a district court matter, and you'll get a fine of less than 10k, "if" its taken seriously and the case is built on good evidence.

Most, if not all, trees can't be "replaced" in our lifetime, let alone Oak.

This is ecocide pure and simple, from ignorant, profit chasing landowners, and contractors. If you tried to stop this happening, by court proceedings or by blocking access, you'd feel the full force of the law. #speirgorm

Id say its reasonable to guess the vast majority are either over 65 or farmers/landlords. I agree most parties in Ireland are wildly out of step with the public on climate. FF being at a front runner on that.

The vast majority of his PP have zero time for climate or the housing crisis. They genuinely dont care about anything outside of business as usual. MM is actually a more left than the vast majority of ff, but he shoots himself in the foot constantly and also cant bare to lose power.

@news.rte.ie your reporting is wrong here. Its a dedicated transport aircraft. Its not a maritime patrol aircraft. It's not fitted out for that. You might want to correct the article, fairly large mistake there.

Slot hasn't settled on a system to blend everyone in and thats not help him at all. Plus, the rest of the team lost one of their mates tragically in the summer, thats understandable having an effect on them and the whole club. So the settled players aren't as settled as usual.
