Hi! You might have noticed my name is different. Many years ago I started making art under the pen name Nan Lawson. Nan was a family nickname and Lawson is my middle name.

I’m nervous to do it because the name has become part of my online brand and identity, and I fear I will lose work because I will be harder to find. However I want to be true to who I am and this feels like me. Anyway, you may notice things slowly changing around here. Don’t fret! It’s still me🖤 4/4
Wild is a name with great personal significance to me. Hence the new moniker Shannon Wild Smith. All this is to say I am eventually going to drop Nan Lawson altogether and change media handles/emails/websites starting in the new year.

I came to dislike the name Nan and feel indifferent to the family name Lawson, but switched to Shannon (my actual name) and kept Lawson for continuity.

However, now I wish to move on from the name Lawson as well and go by my actual first and last (Shannon Smith) name.

The cover of this copy of Frankenstein was cool until Netflix put their logo right in the middle of it!

I guess I’m a little late for #PortfolioDay but here is some of my work. I’ve been building up my book cover portfolio and it’s been paying off! I’ll have some special edition covers coming out next year 😁

The German one is sooooo pretty.
This one I made with matte photo paper. I laminated it with soft touch laminate and then added the foil details with heat transfer vinyl. But I did just a printed version too that looks great!
No need to destroy a perfectly good hardcover book! This is my first ever dust jacket featuring an illustration by yours truly ✨
