I’m re-watching The Night Manager Series 1 in preparation for Series 2 coming out, and am realising that Jonathan Pine / Tom Quince / Andrew Birch didn’t actually do much night managing.

"Since they are Canadian, I would not rule out treachery" kinda sums up 2025.
Being Canadian means we are treacherous because we made an incompetent hater look "silly."

Mr 18, over desert tonight, said his friends think it’s strange that we sit down as a family to have dinner together every night. But also how much he appreciates it. Is no one doing this anymore? It’s been something important to our little family unit and I’m so glad we still do it.

Made it to Parakiore, the new pools in Christchurch - amazing facility and great value for money, but a wee bit of advice: you need to book the slides in advance! Boys loved the drop slide. I loved having a whole lane and most of a pool to myself for an hour. 🏊🏼‍♀️

Graduation Day for Mr 18 from first year certificate programme at AdventureWorks. What a year these kids have had: finding their tribe, learning about the outdoors, about adventuring safely, about themselves. With the upper half of the North Island as their playground. Outdoor Ed’s important.

I am listening to the audiobook of Mike McRoberts “Speaking My Language / Te Kōrero i Tōku Reo” and I feel so privileged to be in Aotearoa at a time when so many stories are being proudly shared about rediscovering indigenous language and culture. Kia kaha te reo Māori.

It’s wild that the tradition of singing anthems before sports matches started with a Wales v NZ rugby match in 1905, as the Welsh wanted to drown out the haka.

The haka is a longer and more established tradition than pre-game national anthems. 🤯 No more moaning that the AB’s should stop doing it.

I suggested to my 18 year old son, who is studying adventure tourism, to have a think about moving to Queenstown for the summer to find work.
His response?
“If I’m going to leave home, I might as well go to Canada.”
