Since 2004, we have ran projects in Africa and Latin America to develop sustainable enterprises, advance gender equality, build climate resilience and improve livelihoods for thousands of producers within the world's most disadvantaged communities.

Our projects span diverse communities, from vegetable farmers with disabilities in Burkina Faso to coffee farmers in Rwanda. In Ivory Coast, we assisted young cocoa farmers in improving farm productivity through sustainable practices.
Shared Interest Foundation recently secured a grant to deliver a project which is supporting 150 young cocoa farmers in Ivory Coast to integrate beekeeping into their cocoa farming practices.

30% to 40% of cocoa is lost annually due to pests. Innovation is needed to address this challenge.

Working with Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny, University of Ghana and RICE, this project will develop a new eco-friendly, affordable biopesticide to reduce cocoa loss and boost organic production.

We are delighted to share that Shared Interest Foundation has secured a grant from the Guernsey Overseas Aid Commission to expand our shea project in Burkina Faso.

In the summer, we conducted a semi-hydroponics project with Sacaclí, a coffee co-operative supporting 465 local farmers.

Last month, participants transplanted chilli and tomato seedlings into greenhouses and received training in soilless farming.

In Ivory Coast, Shared Interest Foundation's biopesticide development project, which will improve the protection of cocoa trees against pests and diseases whilst increasing cocoa production for farmers, received an exciting development in the summer.

In 2024, we launched a project to strengthen producer organisations across Africa and Latin America through technical assistance and training.

The project focuses on improving governance, management and financial capacity for organisations producing coffee, cocoa, honey and hibiscus.

Uganda has the potential to produce over 500 metric tonnes of honey per year. However, currently, it produces 1% of this amount.

The Ugandan apiculture industry requires more support, capacity building and access to market in order to achieve the growth required to meet increasing global demand.

In Burkina Faso, shea butter, with its high market demand, offers a valuable way for women to improve their financial resilience.

In 2022, we launched a project with Burkina Faso’s Fair Trade Network (PNCE-B) and COPRONOS, a local co-op, to support 50 women to increase production of shea butter.
