Hope to be at Loughborough in July for the MSA/BAMS conference. Would love to have a chat if you're around and still interested then!
What a nightmare! I hope little one feels secure again.

Really, really excited to see what comes of this. A great topic and a book that I'm excited to look at for the list here, when the time comes!

Today's From-the-Vaults Treasure

In case you ever wondered what Sarah Bernhardt sounded like. (At the very least, you gotta check out the Phèdre track; it's wild.)

I just thought ... changing my email inbox to high-contrast ... would make new asks more legible.

Reader, it didn't.

Today is the birthday of Charlotte Riddell (1832-1906). Riddell specialized in ghost stories and novels of London city life. Weird Stories (1882) contains some of the best supernatural fiction of the Victorian era. Her ghost stories are a unique blend of classic entertainment and social commentary.

Leveling up my gear w/peripherals for my new laptop. Spent an agonizingly long time researching stands. Finally landed on the Roost for portability. www.therooststand.com/collections/.... Can't wait to get it set up with my mechanical keyboard (Cherry MX Browns). What's everyone else using?
I've decided to sidle into Bluesky by being really, really naive and simple, rather than re-cultivate whatever it was I did on Twitter when I tried to entertain. So here is just a link to a non-paywalled chapter on labor and DH, edited by @jamesosullivan.bsky.social mla.hcommons.org/deposits/ite...
Will forward to a graduate student doing a Wordsworth-based visualization project. Will be so helpful!
Teaching Henry James's _In the Cage_ to my digital cultures class. So far, they've really responded to my reading of it as about parasocial relationships. I've learned a lot more about their personal lives (and vice versa) than I thought I would.

Especially excited to teach Murderbot at the end of the semester! Not just a great book that meets my curricular needs, but (squee!) a local writer. @marthawells.bsky.social
Bookstack for my Digital Cultures and Human Thinking course. Was super-chuffed at the incidental color coordination. Anyone else want to share a course bookstack?
#intro Me right now: a big lecture class on digital cultures & human thinking, committee work for a revised Environmental Studies program, and an article that close-reads early hypertext editions of The Waste Land. Feeling great b/c I just finished an interview w/an awesome informant for the article
