This is also wild because we now know that we only added something like 1 car for every 20 new residents over the last decade.

This kind of shit is what is so wild about how some transport committee folks (or maybe people testifying, I don’t recall ) being worried that allowing rider representation on governing boards would result in wild spending on transit. Lol. Lmao, even. Who will tell them?!

My state Senator, who is the Senate majority leader, says he’s working on a revenue bill. So really wonder what kind of inside baseball shit is going on.
November 25, 2025 at 5:23 AM
What if that state Sen. instead of telling colleagues not to ask for more money told them to plan to focus most of their time and attention on progressive revenue in the upcoming session?

She got lots of pets and also combing and brushing today so she’s feeling pretty friendly.
November 25, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Lovely gurl.

I am pretty low info on this, but it seems wild to invest in the line but eliminate stops there are demand for and that will only be more expensive to add back in later (which, maybe that’s not even an option, in which case even worse!)
November 25, 2025 at 5:03 AM
I agree. At least, this is consistent with my impressions as a young person and from watching hours and hours of it with my toddler half sister, who was obsessed with the Smurfs for years.

I hesitate to make the comparison but I wonder if Larry Andrews has ever met Alex Tsimmerman (sp).
November 25, 2025 at 4:51 AM
Pretty sure that the president is already taxing frankincense via tariffs, Larry. It’s imported!
Andrews says we're living under the regime of "Lisa Brown's tariffs ...what's next, will Lisa Brown tax frankincense too before Christmas?"

Who says golden retrievers can’t have refined tastes?
November 25, 2025 at 4:02 AM
This is why we all need to read the entire thread before commenting. Mea culpa 😳
November 25, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Andrew’s comments but that was before I realized he is testifying and not a member of the council.
November 25, 2025 at 2:30 AM
Oh, wait if Andrew is not on the council I guess that is less outrageous.
November 25, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Lmao I’m sorry perhaps I don’t know Spokane politics very well but that sounds like someone is demanding quid pro quo? Which I’m pretty sure is illegal or at the very least unethical?

I just happened to watch a video on this topic. Those in particular were chosen after ww2 by a Montreal linguist for ICAO. They’re similar words in English, French, and Spanish (vs eg “fox”). Foxtrot was almost swapped for football, but was found to be more distinct. src: youtu.be/UAT-eOzeY4M

I am such a nerd, love it. But this guy is really good at this, too!

LMAO. Beautiful. Delicious.
November 24, 2025 at 11:22 PM
(Although looking at the guide for the NATO alphabet - I have one posted on my office wall - I think some of the words might be dated or otherwise less than ideal. I don't have time to go down the rabbit hole of how they settled on Whiskey for W or Foxtrot for F but that would be interesting.)

LMAO Fidelity is as bad as Xfinity and in fact worse as despite my spelling my name and double checking it, they got it wrong. Amazing. "C" sounds NOTHING like "S" by the way and this is why I should revert to *always* using the NATO phonetic alphabet.

I know they are HQ here but do they have actual storefronts, like Trek?
November 24, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Good point. I had slowly been brought around to respecting Rad's place in enabling a lot of people to ride who might not otherwise have the $ but it sucks that this seems to be the consequence of a move fast/break things mentality and riders are screwed by it.

Right? It's just not that hard and it's part of living with other adults. In our case, everyone here is a shareholder/owner, there's big social incentives to just be neighborly in very basic ways.
