My frustration is that we should fix insurance for Americans before trying to help others. I’ll look up the article that explains much better than I am doing here.
It’s not the ACA. California has a plan, Medical, that allows undocumented people to enroll. It is subsidized by Medicaid. So does Illinois through different program. If the laws stays no Medicaid for undocumented the states eat the costs. I apologize for saying ACA causing confusion.
California has to get the undocumented covered or the costs fall to the state. Same with other states that offer healthcare to undocumented. Americans lose out.
Luckily with spinal issues I’ve had full MRI’s, many CT scans, breast scans per usual. Going forward until 65 is risky because I’ll likely have no insurance next year. OK’ing subsidies to ACA without worrying about undocumented people
I’d be in serious trouble ironically Medicaid kicks in. My husband had a TBI. $500k bills in 2 weeks. Emergency Medicaid kicked in. I just pray I make it to Medicare. I know I’m contradictory about this because it’s socialized medicine. I just miss paying reasonable amount for reasonable insurance.
I will need the ACA for that. I have a doctor on ACA for insurance purposes who knows the other doctor. But any sudden medical catastrophe will be a financial catastrophe too.
I just had spinal surgery last year. I’m in Tom’s of medical debt. $9600 x 2 years of hitting max OOP max. But I have a private doctor I pay $65 a month to. Can text, call 34/7. Immediate appointments. Cheaper meds through his office. No insurance accepted. Very helpful.
I pay $45 regular doctor $90 specialist $30 rx but anything else like X-rays is out of pocket. people are frustrated w Medical (California ) for non citizens it’s much much cheaper. We can’t support everyone and citizens at some point should have better insurance than anyone walking across border.
I’m advocating for old school insurance I could afford. I’ve been uninsured before. I can’t go from $250 month to $2200. You are truly blessed you can. But having socialized medicine is not paid by fairies. It costs us all. That’s all I’m saying.
But what about backlogs? I hear so many complaints about extreme wait times and having to jump through so many hoops. Look how expensive Obamacare is which is socialized medicine because the government now subsidizes about 60% of costs for fees
You can see the issues w Obamacare. They knew it would need subsidies to be affordable and the plans were terrible. The positives of no rejection for past illness is great. The negative is medical debt is skyrocketing. Insurance companies are set up to reward executives and deny claims.
In England people are waiting months for a CAT scan, months for cancer care. The government just bogs things down. Yes everyone deserves insurance but give those who can afford it options. ACA is just too expensive for horrible coverage that needs govt assistance.
Usually it ends up like England or Canada where there’s long waits and not the gold plan you envision
No. California has Medical. It puts illegal immigrants on insurance. California gets reimbursed through Medicaid for Medical. So if the federal government no longer covers non citizens then California is solely responsible for those costs that previously the federal government mostly covered.
If congress kept subsidies for citizens and stopped worrying about those who aren’t it would actually help the health of Americans.
Most are on Bronze plans. I have a $9800 out of pocket maximum and about $8600 co-pays. Currently the government pays a big portion so the monthly cost is low. But they get you on the back end. What happened to reasonable insurance premiums with care tailored to one’s needs?
There are so many stem graduates unable to find employment. The fraud in H1B visas is off the charts. In all sectors it’s too many. Employ Americans first. As if fast food jobs have nobody here qualified to flip a burger.
