I think Haranir are Dark trolls and not another evolutionary branch. Just the surface gave them a different name.

Shirada has V E R Y poor coping mechanisms. When her head gets clouded in thoughts/fears/anger or similar she turns quiet and tries to sort that by herself. (It never works out and she implodes)

Levelled my way through the Laggy Eversong forest and made my way to Harandar, since I was curious on the Murals, that are (one of the many) reason Haranir get the rather harsh welcome:
The entire vibe of them changed, as well as the connections to dark-trolls. Have a read :)
