This is gonna be the last teaser of my manga as it's getting into graphic/lore-heavy areas that I don't want to show even a smidge of.

I won't be showing teasers of the graphic/lore heavy parts, just parts that are spoiler-friendly

Also, rip Aya's hand. That's gotta hurt

Been a hot minute since I posted an update, it's gettin' there

Because I draw Mio with her mutation, thought to draw these two with theirs again. This glowing eyes thing I tried looks pretty freaking cool, too

You know... I love summer, but do you know what I hate about it? Bugs, because I just dealt with a centipede on my wall/ceiling. I'm glad I have a flat headed mop with me.

And another thing, since it may be easier to talk there as I don't yap about everything here, I do have a discord that I'm cool with sharing with ya.
shitzuko.bsky.social
I do have a text version of the story but it's sole purpose is to help visualize the manga (at least volume 1)

My plans are to put the manga on pixiv and webtoons as a free digital copy. Then whenever the time comes, I want to make physical copies for those who want to support/prefer physical.

Thanks for this conversation, it was really fun to discuss this!

Volume 1 is currently in the works. This series is planned to be a small one, consisting of 2-3 volumes.

If you have any other questions in the future, I'll be happy to answer them the best I can.

Fun fact, Resident Evil is my biggest inspiration. There's just no zomb-zombs here.

Subject 1379, as they further mutated, gradually lost their sense of self and became berserk. They have no ability to communicate aside from gushy guttural sounds; except one single time they spoke two words.
shitzuko.bsky.social
That's at least the upper half of the subject; aka Subject 1379.

And also, if you're interested, here's the other half of the manga cover that shows the original two survivors of the blood and flesh virus; Aya and Ayato (not siblings).

As of right now, I don't have any documentation of neither that wouldn't spoil what the final volumes are going to show. However, I do have at least the subject who survived all 3 viruses' upper half (volume 1's manga cover); I can show that.
shitzuko.bsky.social
And the subject who managed to survive... does not look pretty.
shitzuko.bsky.social
Being reinjected could very well kill her, which is why it wasn't done to her nor the other two original survivors of the blood and flesh virus. It's a risk that was only preformed once, on record.
shitzuko.bsky.social
The mutation state she is in is her final stage, there is a possibility that she could get reinjected with the same virus or a different one and further mutate to something else. But the chances of survival of that are extremely low. There is recorded to be only 1 subject who survived all 3 viruses.

The wound only heals when she retracts the blades. Yes, because of her mutation, she has a deficiency in the minerals that bones are made of. So she needs more foods that have what she needs. Without that, she won't function properly, of course.
shitzuko.bsky.social
About... 15, 30 minutes. However if the blade is sliced off, it'll be about an hour of full regeneration.

On the topic of regeneration, the bone blades themselves could be restored if one were to slice the blades off. They'd simply retract back into her arms and start the healing process.

That being said, she wouldn't be able to use her mutation until she's fully healed.

Yes, it tears through her arm each time she ejects it. On the brightside with her, she has regeneration much stronger than a regular humans. So the wound it leaves behind heals.

2/2 edit
RETRACTABLE, that's the word to describe her blades. I have the case of morning brain, my mistake.

Reportedly, the blood virus was by far the hardest to survive. Flesh being the second, and bone being the third.

Mio can eject and hide her bone blades at any time, she has control over that.

The bone virus was proven to be the experiment that took less casualties. However, the survival rate of all three viruses varies person to person, it's luck based. It solely depends on how one's body takes the parasite/if the parasite accepts them.

How she even got the mutation in the first place? Just like every subject, she was kidnapped for experimentation. A specific form of a virus was injected into her that mutated her bones. There are two other forms of the virus, those being related to flesh and blood.

She's able to use her fingers just fine, she can grab things while the blades are out. They function as hidden blades but in the form of her bones. When she was first going through her mutation, it of course hurt horribly bad. But over time, she grew a tolerance to the pain.
shitzuko.bsky.social
Okay, that split skin from her bone blades is giving me the heebie-jeebies. It makes that exact part of my arm tingle lol
