One Frog

Tonight one frog sings outside. It's no country for rain. I live far away, but I can hear this one frog, it's a loud frog, alone in some creek or other, in a county of two lane roads that twist in the dark. Still there is comfort here because somewhere glimmering among the darkened trees is a lighted window. An old man and his nephew sit inside, whittling. They're making toys. One makes a small cart with rolling wheels; the other makes a dog with a wagging tail. There are no children nearby, not even in the neighboring counties, so one might wonder who the toys are for.
But the old man and his nephew don't seem concerned; they just keep whittling. Occasionally one of them smiles. The shavings go into the fire. The frog sings. The roads twist in the dark. The creek is low. One day it might rain.

Told a bunch of writers that they (and a bunch of their younger fellows) were being taught by a convicted stalker who previously stalked another writer for *fifteen years*, but apparently that's fine and we should move on and not gossip 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Double checked what they want you to achieve with this and (amongst others). they want you to improve community cohesion to try to make sure sunderland never has another race riot, & produce a work of significant artistic integrity while letting the communities make the artistic decisions.

there's only ever like 5 jobs for the north east on the arts jobs bulletin, and its literally like: CEO, front of house min wage, front of house min wage, volunteer opportunity, something you wouldn't want even your worst enemy to be involved in. 💀

tell me why Sunderland is trying to pay an artist £15K to both sides the 2024 race riots. asking for u to make 16 pieces, 4 from global majority people, 4 from kids, 4 from older people and 4 from... "Ringleaders/perpetrators" (direct quote).
