There's something about this that comes across rather nefarious. Why is the NWSL working so hard to do everything but raise the cap? The more complex the system, the easier it is going to be for those in power to exploit it without detection, and it will be the players who suffer for it.
SOURCES: The #NWSL board has voted to approve a new star player fund—internally called "High Impact Player"—to allow teams to spend up to $1M over the cap with a much smaller cap hit for players who meet criteria.
