But this clip isn’t real. The original footage dates back to a Bloomberg interview in May 2024.

I know we are a couple of weeks into term, but I went back to @jimdickinson.bsky.social ‘s recent wonkhe.com/blogs/for-st... because I think its message is even more important now our students are here. We have to keep asking what is being normalised, where we need to be calling attention.

That matters because normalisation is the enemy of change. If students "learn to love their limitations," policymakers have little incentive to do better. The lesson has always been that sometimes the most powerful intervention isn't a tidy solution or a polished set of recommendations, but the act of refusing to let the intolerable become invisible.

Funnily enough, Carly, the concert we missed in Birmingham was also conducted by Gemma New & also included Sibelius 🎻 concerto my favourite plus Shostakovich symphony #5, another favourite. It was a lovely gesture by the CBSO & signed by the 2 players we sponsor too. Couldn't wear the badge-too shy!

Hi, Carly. Back from an excellent concert by The BBC Philharmonic with New Zealand conductor Gemma New. We've heard her before & she really is superb. Brilliantly playing one of my favourite symphonies Sibelius #2. A very special performance from all concerned. I'll go to bed a happy Sibelian! 🎶👏😂
