The only possible (but likely will never happen) is if they go to a 24 team playoff format like the FCS with the top 8 teams receiving a 1st rd bye. Of course that won't completely solve the issue but it may reduce the number of sit outs and transfers.

Unfortunately...you're right lol. Bowl games haven't been exciting since the maybe the BCS and pre portal transfer days. I'll be mainly watching for betting potential this year. I wonder if I can turn a $5/10 leg parlay into $1,000+ π€

Plenty of these games will be worth watching. But, I did want to see Bama as Miami in a bowl game this year since they're the top SEC/ACC teams not in the CFP.
