After a fantastic visit in February where I brought my Spellbound night (as well as promoting Curepedia), the lovely people of Kells, Co. Meath have invited me back to bring the Alt-80s tunes again...

Without even looking, I’m guessing the words ‘aged’ and ‘well’ feature frequently in the replies.

I will say this. I haven’t heard of half the England team. We’ve got a chance here. (Yes I know, you haven’t heard of any of the Wales team.)

An occasional series in which Late Nite Minicab FM highlights one song from our playlist. This week it's my choice, Never Too Much by Luther Vandross. If you want to comment, feel free to go over to the post on Minicab's page and get involved... www.facebook.com/LateNiteMini...

MINICAB CLASSICS #10: Luther Vandross – Never Too Much (1981/1989) We don't only play slowies. Towards the end of the night, we pick up the tempo. Here's an example. Born in New York in 1951,...

Perhaps we should be grateful for Clegg's useful idiocy here in saying the quiet part out loud: "This industry can only thrive if it is allowed to destroy this other industry by being a pale imitation of it."

But what could Antifa have been opposing in Weimar Ger…. Oh. Oh!

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

See, this is exactly why I follow Vintage Obscura Radio. I could have lived out the rest of my days and never heard this track. But I happened to see them share this, and I had nothing else to do, so I clicked on it, what the hell, why not. And it is INCREDIBLE.

This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

It's like unions and weekends. Most people don't realize that people fought and sometimes died so we can arse around the garden centre on a Saturday instead of coal mining. She was in the vanguard of people that made it possible to look fabulous and not get your teeth kicked in every day. RIP.

So sad to hear of the death of punk legend Soo Catwoman (Susan Lucas). She was so amazing.

She was, of course, the main inspiration for my hairstyle. I met her once in the 2000s, and apologised for stealing it. She very graciously said "At least you're doing it well." I'll take that.

R.I.P.

The BOGOF Ban is a nauseating class-targeted initiative, and patronising as Hell. If you really care about the diet of the poor, then legislate to reduce the price of healthier foods, rather than basically doubling the price of their (our) few affordable pleasures in life. Get to absolute fuck.

I've been thinking about 12 inch versions of the 80s that weren't dancefloor-focused, but sounded expensive. What you were buying was ADDED TIME SPENT IN LUXURY. Life was shabby and there was fuck all to do. Escaping that, for seven minutes instead of three, was their purpose. youtu.be/GGXZtpKt9Ts

Some kind of big Super Furry Animals announcement is coming up at 10.00am. Whatever it is, I'm very excited. Wales' finest band, and a force of pure joy and goodness. The world badly needs more SFA in it.
