5/ @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social Benefits cuts will make this situation worse. Without transport to shops, jobs, education etc (the area has only one unreliable hourly bus that stops at 5pm), then people are left with no option but to starve. Our charity will have to pick up the pieces. Please ask!

4/ @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social we are really worried that as a result of being let down by both Tory and Labour governments, local people will resort to more extreme politics. We're seeing narratives about migration rocket, as the largely white population become more desperate.

3/ @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social the rail station is also key to our project and associated economic regeneration (access to work etc) in a highly isolated community. Because the line spans two mayoral authorities, it's not being locally prioritised, with road schemes instead taking centre stage :-(

2/ @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social this former coalfield/foundries area is in the most deprived 10% of the country (worst 2% of child deprivation) and the rail station is key to local regeneration plans. >50% of residents have no access to a car, so need the station (and associated buses coming back).

Hi @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social would you be able to ask Kier Starmer about the Barrow Hill rail line? I chair the Barrow Hill Community Trust development charity, which is creating a £3.6m community-led regeneration project opposite what was to be Barrow Hill station, but Rachel Reeves axed it...
