For all of my 44 years of life, all the way through calc 2, dividing by half has meant 90 ÷2 =45.

This is why reading comprehension and math are so closely linked. Yall are trying too hard to make a simple thing difficult

Divide BY half is ambiguous, divide IN half would not be (or divide by 2), and I expect the words chosen are intentional to just annoy people and make them fight

Did they all fail math. Half of a number is multiplying by .5. 50% OF 90= 50% x 90= .5x90.

When did we forget that of means multiplication??
