Takumi Miyajima, the woman who wrote tales of symphonia, she had several characters keep their placeholder names because she doesn't like naming characters.

One of them, Yuan, appears to have been named that because his VA was voicing Ewan McGregor in the jp dub of the prequal star wars movies.
