Here's a Friday Shop Plug!
You could buy one or two copies of my book defaced with the Mari Lwyd, or one or two of my Nosferatu lino prints, or none of the above..!

Currently in the Radiance flash sale, very good, very good..!
Film Time!
Very much enjoyed Dominik Graf's tough guy heist thriller THE CAT (1988), freshly released by @filmsradiance.bsky.social. Lots of sweaty blokes shouting into phones and faffing about with chunky high tech 80s surveillance equipment. Big Michael Mann / Eurocrime vibes, tense as heck...👍

Granted myself a day off (Freelance Lyfe) and snuck down to Coventry to check out Leah Gordon's Monument to the Vanquished Peasant exhibition at the Herbert Gallery, championing the spirit of resistance against land enclosures in the English countryside 💪...

Two films on the trot I’ve watched featuring an elaborate set piece speedboat chase through the canals of Amsterdam. This time it was British drug smuggling spy actioner PUPPET ON A CHAIN (1972). If anyone can suggest a third I'll watch that tomorrow...

Revisited Dick Maas' AMSTERDAMNED (1988). A goofy tough guy cop thriller with a masked frogman slasher killer! Though a good 20 minutes too long, the canal based action (Vic Armstrong worked on it!) is worth the price of admission. Bonus 80s points for the terrible end credits tie-in pop song...

Disappointed to see this hasn't yet been solved. Last night I was scrolling through a google image search of 'church windows Hertfordshire' on the off chance it was a shot they grabbed during filming of the UK scenes. But presumably it's meant to be the Venetian church being restored..?
One for the film detectives - anyone know what this church is from Don’t Look Now? Can’t seem to find much info and it looks more like a church in the UK than Italy? Reverse image search just brings back the film 🤔

All time favourite film opening, by the way #filmsky

Folk Horror Time!
I watched Wil Aaron's O'R DDAEAR HEN, which terrified a generation back in 1981 when the Welsh FIlm Board held screenings of it for primary school children! Some genuinely unnerving sequences (it got me twice!) as an unearthed ancient stone head causes all manner of trouble...
