LOL the usb hub is smart!! yeah that's not so bad and it means you can ensure they all have the most recent version (it'd be typical to order a batch only to find a new bug you need to patch...)

thank you!! yeah i considered playing with the keychain idea, since my vn is a racing setting i could make them like car keys lol. one detail i missed, when ordering your custom USBs did the manufacturer add your files or did you need to do that manually yourself?

i read through your zine, great resource! appreciated the notes on tabling with the physical copy too! i was contemplating a cd release of my vn because its y2k-inspired but i think you're probably right that bespoke USBs are a better shout - i hadnt seen the custom print card ones before, very cool

a physical copy of my game parfum nostalgique. it's a circular USB card custom printed with my main character on it with a flip-out flash drive and a blue tassel attached to a blue shell-shaped perfume bottle card in a watercolor style.

Capital has six expressions with two eyes and three mouths each, for ace attorney style mouth flaps and blinks! this was a lot of work (more than i anticipated💦) but i think the resulting polish is well worth it #vndev #ocsky

i'm working on Capital's sprites - i haven't replaced the sketch version of his blink asset yet, so currently his eyebrows flash red to ward away predators 😭

making vn is easy you just write a book and then you read back each line from that book and think what facial expression are they making and then you draw each expression and then line by line you add a tag for the face they are making. the best part is you only have to do this a few thousand times

lineart was the way to go after all! here's the final background art - i'm actually satisfied now. i really wanted crisp, clean shapes with lots of bright colour and gradients of light. also because i am using fixed width lines, i was able to use the pen tool to help with the big curves! #vndev
