Die neuen Straßenbahnen vom Typ "Tina" sollen den Nahverkehr in Halle moderner machen. Seit einem Monat läuft der Testbetrieb mit Fahrgästen. Aber gestern wohl wieder eine Probefahrt !
Meine Freude war zu früh wieder kein Zusammentreffen mit der Schweizerin !
Die Tina am Markt leider verpasst !

Das Foto wurde während der Dämmerung (blaue Stunde) aufgenommen. Man sieht von der linken Bildseite eine Straßenbahn zur Bildmitte fahren. Der Standpunkt der Kamera ist nahe an der Straßenbahn auf einer Gehweginsel. Die Bahn ist durch die lange Belichtung und ihrer Bewegung unscharf dargestellt. In der Bild-Mitte glänzen die vom Betrachter aus in die Ferne führenden Schienen in der oberhalb der Oberleitung angebrachten Weihnachtsbeleuchtung der Kaiserstraße in Karlsruhe. Rechts im Bild ist ein gelb leuchtendes großes U (auf einer Stange befestigt) zu sehen. Das U spiegelt sich unscharf auch links in den Fenstern der einfahrenden Straßenbahn wider. Das Foto hat historischen Wert, weil es am letzten Tag des regelmäßigen Verkehrs von Straßenbahnen in der Kaiserstraße gemacht wurde. Das U markiert einen Eingang in eine der unterirdischen Haltestellen, die an diesem Tag für die Allgemeinheit freigegeben wurden.

1 car blocking a streetcar full of people on Roncesvalles. Should be impounding the car, suspend license for years and fine thousands. This will never stop in a city with leaders who choose a class system. Wonder how Brad Brad squares this circle.

I am grateful to have shared Vienna with these old trams for a while. A vestige of a time before function took over form. I love this spot, where they slow down, serpenting through the S. It’s home now.

At Sheffield station waiting for the train to Huddersfield. I read somewhere recently that Sheffield is the largest city in the UK that's served entirely by diesel, no electric lines touching it.

Beautiful tradition in Warsaw:

Every year on January 27th, this old tram covers a route around the WW II ghetto, not taking any passengers to remind of those lost, who were no longer allowed to use the trams and were later deported and murdered. #HolocaustMemorialDay

Built by Drewry in 1927, the petrol tram cars were operated by Southern Railway and later British Railways until 1969. It was reconstructed between 2011 and 2021, and returned to service the following year.

Much of the original bodywork had to be scrapped due to decay, following outdoor storage at Newport Station, though the powered chassis still proved valuable in establishing the IoWSR, moving equipment from Newport to Havenstreet. Sadly, with priorities focused on their fleet of locomotives, the tramcar was used only for around a year before falling out of use entirely. Finally, in 2011 reconstruction of the tramcar began. Modifications had to be made to adhere to passenger-carrying regulations and a more powerful engine to cope with the railway's gradients. The railcar entered service in 2022 and is shown here departing Havenstreet during the IoWSR's Festival of Transport in 2024.
