Got into a discussion this weekend on my preference for The Batman over The Dark Knight. Think it’s one of my more unpopular movie and nerd takes. My main reasoning is that TDK is pro-capitalist, pro-police, pro-status quo whereas TB is a criticism of all three of those things.
Tried to write a joke about a future where Netflix’s umpteenth high school for magical teens show outperforms their new Chris Pratt-led franchise slop at the box office but I’ve been catastrophizing too much to really nail the punchline

Songs are moving too quickly into store playlists. I shouldn’t be hearing Olivia Dean and Benson Boone when I’m shopping. It should be like the hall of fame. Need a waiting period of at least 5 years

Giannis and Luka on the Lakers together is maybe the only thing that can derail the coming OKC dynasty. For that reason alone, we should all be rooting for it

Also, another absolutely brilliant game from Reaves tonight. Best backcourt in the league
On the one hand, the NBA broadcasts and coverage on prime have been very good. On the other, sports bars have not adapted to checking a completely different app for games even when the home team is playing. Mavs-Lakers on my phone cause it’s not on anywhere

Random thing that consistently breaks immersion when I’m watching something is when I can tell they’re using Vancouver and/or British Columbia to stand in for somewhere else. I recognize the sword ferns and evergreens of a PNW forest every time

I’m sure Nolan’s Odyssey will be good, but it’s a bummer it’s so gray. Blech

In a year of very good scores (Sinners, One Battle), this one will be overlooked, but is imo the franchise best and one of my favorites in sci-fi/fantasy lately.
Wallfisch did the Blade Runner 2049 score with Hans Zimmer and Schachner did Prey. You hear those in this. Great use of vocals too

In a year of very good scores (Sinners, One Battle), this one will be overlooked, but is imo the franchise best and one of my favorites in sci-fi/fantasy lately.
Wallfisch did the Blade Runner 2049 score with Hans Zimmer and Schachner did Prey. You hear those in this. Great use of vocals too
