Chicago Science and tech museum has two get exhibits on WW2. U-505 captured on 6/04/1944. They don’t mention King wanted Gallery court-martialed for the capturing the sub and revealing allied knowledge of enigma.

As my story of Simon, the only feline recipient of the highest medal for animal gallantry is doing the rounds again. I'll share that HMS Amethyst's "general characteristics" section on Wikipedia has a unique crew complement section.

I revisited Qsar Bshir this weekend after a year. The fort is an incredible well preserved late-Roman fort in Jordan. Its claim to fame is the only Roman fort with its dedication stone in place above the doorway. Sadly, after 1700 years it finally needs modern restoration to keep it in place.

I finally got around to watching Blitz and really enjoyed it. I particularly loved the portrayal of the AFS. My grandfather was in the AFS. Here he is with his brothers(one recently back from the desert) and mother.

Family History: I’ve always been told my maternal Great-Uncle was on PT boats at D-Day. Turns out he was with a Coast Guard cutter based out of Poole. Amazing image I was just sent. Through June ‘44 they saved 1438 men.

Perhaps the V2 will be more of a success at hitting its target. Hopefully it doesn’t miss and hit London.

The Roman battlefield of Machaerus. 1/2 complete Siege ramp, walls and Roman camps all easily seen with the dead sea in the background.
