He's my current state Senator and used to be the supervisor of my district in the city. I think he's the best candidate for the job and I'm glad he's done playing the waiting game. He's also termed out of the state legislature after his current term ends, so might as well go for it now.

It should be lower than that. A person should not be able to run for office if they would be age 70 or older at the end of the term. If you're going to stick with 75, it has to be a maximum end of term age, not age at date of election.
