I stopped at CP Sobeys on the way back from the gym. parking lot was in bad shape with black ice, be careful. Road seems fine but the parking lot hadn't been salted. Probably some other spots like that too.

This cat of ours is such a big baby on the days he has to be home alone. He got used to one of us being home a lot of the time, even two days on his own he turns into a big purry puddle on my lap, like he thought we were never coming home.

I think something extremely bad happened on the road in front of the funeral home on Lacewood, across from the library. I passed by about 4:40, police have the road blocked off going toward BL, and were spreading out a silver blanket in front of a car.

It seems that my skin is no longer immune to dry air. A couple days in Ottawa and just below my eyebrows it's irritated and flaky. It was always on the oily side, I don't use much moisturizer but age has caught up I guess.

In other news, Ottawa was very cold, especially Friday night. My skin is not pleased about even a little minus double-digit temps. I forgot to book a rental car with snow tires, so it didn't have them (you pay extra for that), was a bit tricky in spots where it was slushy, poorly cleared, etc.
Just got back from a weekend in Ottawa. At 5 a.m. had regrets about booking such an early flight but glad to be home before lunch/snow. In the category of 'things I do not understand,' woman went to the washroom last 15 minutes of the flight. Wore no shoes. Never been in an airplane bathroom?🤢 GAH

In other news, Ottawa was very cold, especially Friday night. My skin is not pleased about even a little minus double-digit temps. I forgot to book a rental car with snow tires, so it didn't have them (you pay extra for that), was a bit tricky in spots where it was slushy, poorly cleared, etc.

Went back to the office today for the first time since before Christmas (had a bit of an extended hiatus due to my battle with the icy sidewalk last week). Now I'm mildly ice-phobic, walked across my lawn instead of down the driveway to get to the bus stop.

I don't always get flu shots, think I've had flu once in my lifetime. But hearing the dominant strain was really bad this year, we both got the shot a couple days ago. For both of us, arm a *little* sore the next day...and that's been it. No side effects at all. I'm a little surprised.

Stayed up kind of late watching Teen's basketball game so I slept in. Normally I'd head to the gym but seems kinda icy out there (me and ice are not on speaking terms at the moment).

Update - got in to my family doc's office today. Finger not likely broken, he was able to move it around without causing pain. There's a really big scabby area that he said to keep moist with vaseline. It looks REALLY ugly but doesn't hurt much unless I try using it for things it's not ready for.

We got flu shotted, decided to get it in my right arm since my right hand isn't really working anyhow. Hopefully it won't have too significant side effects.

Good news! I was able to get a consultation through Maple. The bad news is, since I have a family doctor, Maple is prevented from requesting any testing, including x-rays. This is dumb. Family doc cannot see me today, their office advised me to try again in the morning to see if they can get me in.
I am grateful that yesterday's fall did not result in a serious issue. But I'm whiny, my hand hurts. There's several large abrasions that sting when I move my hand much. A couple fingers are puffy, hard to bend them because of the scabby bits. Hopefully nothing's broken in there.

What a struggle it is for a cat when he lives in a house without carpets. Where is one to puke if you can't find a carpet?

Ooh it's frosty out there this morning (but oddly no need to scrape the car this morning). Most new gym users in January don't opt for the 6 a.m. timeslot, so it wasn't too bad there.

I had leftover chicken that needed to be used, made chicken burritos with a cheesy sauce. They're quite good. Yeah cottage cheese is horrifying to some, but blend it with seasonings, etc., can make a nice creamy sauce. Even my kid who doesn't eat cottage cheese willingly eats it blended into stuff.

I've been overindulging the last few days, belly was not pleased with me since around 3 a.m. I'd already planned to make these lentil patties I saw on Instagram. Veggie levels have been too low! You cook these items, mash them a bit, add bread crumbs, parsley, seasonings, fry (I will air fry)
