It was definitely different, and... he didn't mind it. Thinking about a past or future that could have been was kind of nice. Different. Interesting.

Bucky wondered how much of what Yelena was saying was the one thing she had wished for, or if it was all just a game of pretend. He'd never allowed himself much in terms of 'pretend reinventing' because it would matter, nothing would change. His past was who he was, but it didn't define him anymore.

"As opposed to...?" he quirked a brow in her direction, not expecting much of an answer as they walked, in stride, toward the park. "It's Manhanntan, there isn't a high bar."

"I'm comfortable in my own skin, not many can relate."

At least he could do that now, unlike scaring most people off before. He'd come a long way himself, from intimidating to, well... still intimidating, but thought his presence was easier to be around now.

Nudging her shoulder with his, he pointed toward the park. "What kind of dicking around?"

He took it and pieced it back together, popping it back into it's metal socket connected to his shoulder.

"Wish I'd kept the old one, now. Not as fun at this one, but it was still cool."

"We don't have to go back yet." As much as Bucky liked their teammates, a little time away would make the heart grow founder, right?

Bucky listened. He was good at listening from all the years of it he had done, and never once being asked his opinion. He wasn't allowed one. His opinion here was moot, as well. Yelena was venting, and that was okay.

"I know." He reached over and squeezed her shoulder, looking back at the tower. -
