I love Satoshi Kon and own this movie, but didn't realize this was out at theaters now. Might have to catch it. Thank you!

I've seen a lot of the classic arthouse fare in the horror genre, as that's the generally the sea I swim in. I'd really like some recs on super scary ones for this October, though. They don't have to be "elevated" (what a terrible term), just a fun jolt

this is in the running for my favorite Carpenter movie. there's just *something* about it.

as someone who works in TV/film and frequently creates things that certainly aren't above rapproach, it feels tacky for me to criticize. I know the hard work the goes into creating these projects. all I'm saying is: steer back toward the VHS theme a little. thank u

just watch Hallucinations or Possibly in Michigan and you'll see there's endless untapped creative potential still left on the table with those magical little tapes. miss me with that shit shot in 4K and cheap post processing that looks like a filter slapped on in davinci resolve.

while I do like the amount of practical effects used in the V/H/S movies, the lack of commitment to the actual format in its title is really disappointing. the way it's just "found footage" w/ scanline FX is so blegh. VHS is such a diverse format with a rich variety of textures & creative options!

thank you for your important efforts in this noble cause 🎩🗡

finally watched Don't Look Now after all these years. some of the best editing I've seen in a horror movie.

thank you! I still haven't seen this one!

taking any and all recommendations for scary films this month. older films more than wholeheartedly welcome. everything under the sun as long as you like it.

there certainly was A LOT of that throighout. and a lot of it that detracted from the power of its themes, I agree

SPOILERS: I have a ton of complaints about the movie, & that scene initially pissed me off for the same reasons as you. But thought it looped back to that topic in a poignant way with his daughter scared at the end of the film, demonstrating the importance of those words to her literal safety.

chuck schumer just texted me at 930 pm at night. he begged me for $80 and said election experts like nate silver think democrats win...

... long sigh

I had a dream once that Obama made fun of me by recommending I listen to Fallout Boy

sneakdoorbeta.bsky.social
yes! I realized we got the lead mixed up. what is bed of roses?? I never heard of that. is that also a tragic baboon heart romance?

this exists it is called thinking
Matthew McConaughey says he wants a private LLM, fed only with his books, notes, journals, and aspirations, so he can ask it questions and get answers based solely on that information, without any outside influence.
sneakdoorbeta.bsky.social
this executive order cites unemployment among recent college grads in the tech sector as a motivating factor. we could also regulate harmful LLMs that cost jobs, instead of making our country an insular and xenophobic wasteland.

Those on an H1B cannot return to the US from tomorrow (Sunday) unless paying $100K. This is an out-of-the blue presidential action. We’ll see software engineers stranded abroad.

One easy to predict outcome: those on US visas will travel less… for work, for conferences etc.

great news! you're not actually seeing karl rove, john yoo, and david frum criticize the administration's lawlessness more stridently than dem leadership. you, reader, were infected with rabies by a brown bat 36 hours ago and this is all just the virus working its way through your nervous system
