The more I watch Hildeby play, the more infuriated I get about the Cayden Primeau waiver claim. Make it make sense.

If the Avs hold on for the win today (they will), they'll be on pace for a 138-point season. That's 3 more than the all-time record set by the Bruins in 2022-23. #GoAvsGo

The Jets are a different team when Dylan Samberg is on the ice and he'll have to be at his absolute best while Connor Hellebuyck is out. #GoJetsGo

Friday Four: Jets need to lean on Samberg without Hellebuyck
One good week could completely change fortunes, but the Canadiens, Leafs, Jets and Oilers are all looking for a spark. Michael Amato looks at four x-factors who could provide it.

I do not believe Scott Laughton’s hockey DB page that he once scored 18 goals in a season.

Has a team ever been as balanced as Colorado is this year?

- 1st in goals for per game (4.09) Nearly half a goal more than the next closest team.
- 1st in save percentage (.920) Have not allowed a goal in 3 straight games.

3 shutouts in a row for the Avalanche. Just give them The Presidents' Trophy now. #GoAvsGo

Marner on pace for 78 points is interesting. I assumed his numbers would drop slightly without Matthews & because VGK wouldn’t lean on him as much as TOR did but his TOI is roughly the same & he’s getting over a minute more per game on the PP than he did last year. #VegasBorn

If you told Leaf fans one of their biggest offseason acquisitions would be a player who wears #63 and their last name starts with MA, it would’ve been pretty darn exciting. But alas…..

Three shutouts for Jesper Wallstedt in his past 4 starts. Stopped 138 of the last 141 shots. #mnwild

For anyone still talking about the Leafs playoff chances, I’m not sure that classic Jim Mora gif has ever been more applicable to anything.

Something that irks me…. the Leafs are about to move to 2-5 on Saturday night. It’s the biggest night of the week, HNIC, you know your opponent is going to be fired up and the Leafs are rarely ever ready to play.

Little thing but a big thing: A common theme with the Leafs defensive zone coverage. Enough guys back but multiple missed assignments. 3 out of 4 are covering no one.

Yaroslav Askarov's goals allowed per game in his 6 starts this month: 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2

That's a .964 save percentage. Celebrini is really overshadowing how good Askarov has been lately and this Sharks team is going to be scary good pretty soon.

Best game for Steven Lorentz as a Leaf last night?

A goal, +2 and played 15:27. For perspective, he had barely been averaging over 10 minutes per game this season. He's done a respectable job moving over to centre.
