The mighty Galanthus ‘Rodmarton Regulus’, a good doer here in a sunny, well-drained, raised bed. Most of the G.elwesii forms seem to prefer these conditions. #fairviewyearround #galanthus #snowdrops

I was delighted to purchase this Sternbergia candida x vernalis (and the reverse cross) in late October. The flowers are however very etiolated. Wondering if it’s due to warm conditions or insufficient light, or perhaps the bulbs had been kept in cold storage? #fairviewyearround

I completed the Big Garden Bird Watch this morning. 11 different species counted which is less than last year and not as many individuals either. Citizen science projects like this provide vital data for monitoring our avian friends. #fairviewyearround #BigGardenBirdWatch

In August I chopped half a leaf off each of these Resnova megaphylla, having heard it was a viable method of propagation. They were inserted vertically into a perlite/bark mix, covered with a transparent plastic bag and put in a heated propagator. It worked. #fairviewyearround

The rather exceptional Galanthus plicatus ‘Golden Fleece’ from Joe Sharman making an early appearance. Difficult to believe that one bulb fetched £1,390 back in 2015. Now much more affordable and obtainable. #fairviewyearround
