One thing I’ve noticed about a year of learning is that I’m understanding concepts well, it’s just I can’t measure proportions for anything and it just takes more time and I’m happy I’m realizing it

I like the lazy look, I feel the shading underneath and above is a bit off but i don’t really understand how to fully have an eye lid or shadows yet. Mostly proud of the iris and I’m actually getting a decent understanding of how to add expressions even if it’s not hyper realistic. I used a reference from an artwork of Mari from omori and the plastic love cover of Mariya Takeuchi. I really like how I just went ahead and finished the face with a nose and mouth no matter how simple they are (very very simple) the eyes are a bit uneven and asymmetrical and the shading is off for the iris but overall I’m proud of the composition. I was inspired by Kiki’s delivery service and tried to draw a studio ghibli eye. I learned that it’s so simple that without the full face it won’t look right 😂so I added a simple nose and it looks a lot more accurate. Lastly, the film helped me realized how much expression works and the upper eyelid moves for EVERYTHING (my tism was skyrocketing). At first I did NOT like this one at all. It just felt unnatural and I believe with the eyebrows and eyeline it’s true. But the actual pupils and iris was well done. I like the shading and composition which took me a while since I was conflicted on making it either super dark or very light as above.
