Way too much Austin FC content. Cautiously engaging in USMNT discourse again.

If the length of the Austin FC offseason and MLS playoffs have you feeling unstuck in time, it's understandable. Cosmological timeframes can be overwhelming for the human mind. I've been keeping track of things tho. Here's where we're at. More updates to come.

It has been 10,000 days since Austin FC last played a game and the MLS playoffs still haven’t finished.
I fucking love this Vancouver team.

I need someone to explain the psychology of people who will wait 30 minutes in a Starbucks drive-through line instead of parking their car and walking in and getting a coffee in three minutes.

What I’m seeing in these conference semifinals is that the league’s biggest stars, Sebastian Berhalter and Lionel Messi, are stepping up to the moment.

I usually find reasons to dislike all the other teams in Austin’s conference but I find myself rooting pretty hard for this Vancouver team.

Weird how the playoffs instantly become incredible when games are single elimination.

Huge mistake by Vancouver to take their foot off the gas and let LAFC have the ball in the second half. Just because they are a transition team doesn’t mean they’re bad in possession. And you wiped out their transition game in the first half.

Crazy to think that the MLS playoffs still haven’t concluded. Entire civilizations have risen and fallen since they began.

The outrage is funny because MOST OF THE CURRENT SEASON is played in brutally hot weather in Texas right now.

If I see one more post about games in January in a cold-weather market I'm going to cry.

I live in Chicago. I get it sucks going to games in cold markets in Nov, Dec and Feb. But the tradeoff of a handful more games in those months in a few markets is 100% worth it for what it means for MLS growth.

For all the hand-wringing about how cold it will be (I grew up in a very cold place and watched lots of sports in very cold temps -- I really don't think it's that big of a deal), this is almost certainly going to be a net positive.

You’ve probably heard that the MLS Board of Governors is meeting this week to discuss, among other things, a move to the “European” schedule. My understanding is that there’s no way that happens in 2026, but there’s a very real possibility that it could happen in 2027.

Watching Arsenal - Sunderland rn and you know what makes the sport 10x more boring than set piece goals and long throw ins? Teams parking the bus.

FWIW, Austin fans are like this is because there have been multiple cases where Doyle made incorrect, broad generalizations about a player based on 1 or 2 specific examples that only came up in one specific game. And when called out about it he's always responded like this:

The most nightmare scenario any Austin FC fan could have possibly envisaged last night was Son Heung-min 1-on-1 with Ilie Sanchez inside the box.

Son Heung-min also inflicted unspeakable filth on ATX tonight. Pour one out for LAFC alum Ilie Sanchez... and the many, many other opponents over the years who've tried to figure out that nasty stepover of his

Uzuni has generally been more a victim of Borrell’s terrible roster built than anything else. But the best thing this team could do in the offseason is move on from him and find a buyer.
November 3, 2025 at 3:55 AM
Absolutely ridiculous that our best defender cannot play 90 minutes in a playoff match.
November 3, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Just need three more penalties to win boys.
November 3, 2025 at 2:46 AM
Nothing personal but I do hope everyone here to watch Son play has a very bad night.
November 3, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Not that this game is being particularly well refereed anyway but….

Across 80 minutes so far, I’ve seen about 10 fouls in the box that Tori Penso would have called as a penalty in the Open Cup final.

Honestly, just about exactly what I expected from that game.

Because of this dumb MLS playoff format Austin has no reason to not absolutely go for it the final 10 minutes. Additional goals mean nothing really.
