UGH IT TORMENTS ME.

i need to be able to see this relationship with instagram more clearly.

end of this month i’m doing a cold turkey detox for 22 days that i am actually announcing so i have some accountability… and support.

and i know i go to instagram for things i need (like my other addictions).

staying updated, sharing resources, hearing about community events and jobs, sharing about my work, connecting with friends outside my “we text” ⭕️, crying laughing at memes, etc

and like other addictions, i feel this entity outside of me (in this case META which is WORSE cause it’s a fascist CORPORATION) dictating my moves, my emotions, my thinking, my instincts and habits, my coping skills.

and like my other addictions (ex: weed) it has a power over me that undermines my consent and my self-trust

i try to get off it for a time being and break my own agreement. i set boundaries with it (ex: no ig when i wake up) and i break it.

like it def has positives and things that work for me, like all addictions.

ex: i love knowing about community events, sending memes back n forth w friends that literally have me cry laughing, n sharing my hot selfies w a bunch of cuties all at once cause shit is grim n lets at least flirt.

maybe if i approach it as an addiction ill be able to get underneath it

blowing smoke out for more n more exoduses from META… for more open source alternatives to support the positives of social media. but ultimately remembering how much of our real lives are in the material

is anyone else’s default feed before following enough ppl also just cat pics n cat pics n cat pics?

like damn i do love cats n these pics are cute as fuck but also algorithm i’m a dynamic human… like i also love manatees… and indigenous #landback and watching billionaires fail 😊

one thing about me is i take very seriously my job of reporting police sightings on my GPS.

& whenever i see someone else reported one i take a moment and say THANK YOU COMRADE THE ABOLITIONIST FUTURE LIVES

maybe this is where i’ll put my findings & reflections on the spiritual/astrologer alt-right phenomena i’ve been researching. it’s been helpful for my nondualistic questions incl “what’s the bridge between us?” &, as a liberation-based spiritualist & astrologer, how is it being co-opted for fascism?
