Dems position should be, no deal until Trump, Vance, and the entire cabinet is impeached and removed. Then we'll pass a budget. Until then, good luck, especially when the ACA increase letters hit Nov 1st.

Single payer healthcare is pro-business. Businesses, especially small and medium sized, don't want to pay the subsidies either, especially if they can't offer an affordable enough plan that employees actually stay healthy.

This shit right here👆. The easiest layup for Dems is that single payer healthcare is pro-business. Most companies subsidize a portion of their employees' health insurance. For small and medium sized businesses, this gets expensive. For employees it can be the difference in the job they want vs need.

But then they'd lose all their power.

I don't think he can cause then he'd have to mark the debt to market and that debt is $1.6T of unsecured crap. It's worth maybe 30 cents on the dollar. Unless someone buys it just to write it down over ten years as a tax offset.
Subprime mortgages from 2008 would be a better investment.

Congress has to be willing to enforce it, which they have proven unwilling to do. In 3 weeks when the ACA renewal letters go out and the GOP is getting raked, there's still no reason to vote for a bill that puts money back in because the president can simply refuse to spend it.

Waiting for the inquisition to pop off.

Trump 2.0 thought they'd get summer of 2020, but that's not happening cause they're too fucking stupid to understand the difference.

If you follow a bunch of black accounts, they were calling this out two years ago. But, it's important to get the message out regardless.
sonofherby.bsky.social
Yeah, people were sounding the alarm well before the election, but they want to believe it's not possible. Segregation was violent, re-segregation will be violent as well.
sonofherby.bsky.social
The only precondition to any vote is impeachment and removal.
sonofherby.bsky.social
They are not worth $1.6T. may a third of that at best.

Prior to the pandemic 12% of loans were in non-payment status. 50-60% are in some type of repayment plan, and 10-12% are PSLF. So something like 80% of the loans are impaired. And these are unsecured loans. For comparison, countrywide mortgage went bankrupt when 25% of their loans went under.

But student loans instead of mortgages. But they weren't profitable because student loans were getting very unprofitable at the end of the Clinton admin. In fact the last time student loans were profitable was 1997. The market wouldn't exist without the federal government.
sonofherby.bsky.social
Here's why this is dumb and a poorly written article.
Student loans are a receivable for the government, not a debt. So the initial framing is shoddy. When Sallie Mae was still a GSE, similar to Fannie Mae, they did offer a product called SLABs, which is like a mortgage backed security

Why negotiate with him when he'll just withhold funds on a whim?
sonofherby.bsky.social
They also didn't count on Congress punting its constitutional duty. Although, if the House was uncapped, like they intended, a lot of this bullshit wouldn't have gone down.

Here's the thing about coal mining at least, it's never coming back because it's too expensive. Liquid natural gas (LNG) is a lot cheaper to use. If coal did come back, it's going to be machines not manpower. People are expensive and inefficient.

He's definitely got a terminal diagnosis.
sonofherby.bsky.social
I never understood why Dems don't use this as a wedge issue. I mean I understand of course Schumer and Pelosi pimp for their corporate donors as much as any Republican congressman, but getting the Koch's, Mercer's, Uhline's money out of politics would hurt the GOP much more than Dems.
sonofherby.bsky.social
Because Congress, the DOJ, and the wealthy made an agreement not to send rich people to jail. Commit a white collar crime you pay a fine and move on. $350T in assets were effected and exactly 1 person went to jail.

Everyone is into left, right, center. It makes no sense. Most Americans believe abortion should be legal, that's a centrist belief, same with gun control. A lot of things people think of as far left, are actually pretty centrist. We just have a group of assholes so far right it distorts things.
sonofherby.bsky.social
Define hard left and middle?
Name a few policies you would consider hard left? Gun control? Abortion? Single payer healthcare?
sonofherby.bsky.social
Yeah, but if it doesn't happen, Abbott has to end up in jail for the rest of his life. I know they all think they have protection or nothing will happen to them because they have power, but if a Dem becomes president in 2029, you have to punish them.
