Even though red, yellow and blue are not a true set of primary colours, they can still make some nice browns.

What are your favourite ways to mix black and brown with paint?

I can’t stop playing with this colour dial fidget toy. #toys #ilovecolor #colours #cmy #rgb
The fact that ink for printers is transparent doesn't mean there is a difference when using artist paints. Watercolour, oil or acrylic will all follow the physics of how our eyes and brains usually interpret light.

Love seeing colour theory shifting in pop culture. Thank you Ok Go and it would be awesome if they work with Sesame Street to make an updated and correct colour video for kids so they don’t have to grow up confused about colour.

Colours might not be things that live outside of us but they feel like they are at times.
Giving them names can help us understand how to interact with them and make good decisions when creating.

You need to add cyan to your palette to find the gorgeous greens of summer, or add green paint because blue and yellow just won't cut it.

It’s so easy to love colour this time of year!
Do you feel like some colours are more friendly than others?
This looks like Alchemilla mollis and makes a lovely tea.
Punishment is totally unnecessary. Logical consequences, like being late for school because you slept in can make sense. Kids need support, love and understanding.
This is my favourite time of year but I need to appreciate the cute baby plants and be less impatient for flowers. The feeling of waiting for flowers is similar to waiting for a book release. The process can feel long but it’s better to find the cute little moments along the way. #writingcommunity
It is very challenging! I also wonder if it is sort of a have to these days to have a direct connection through a family member or friend to agents and publishers. The slush pile is intimidating.
Thanks! I wish you the best with your writing as well.
When I spoke to an agent, she said there are more factors involved when it comes to fiction. If you write a book an agent loves and they see a way to take it to market, they will take the risk even if you don’t have a large audience.
Thanks :) I’m leaning towards selling it as a PDF so the formatting is preserved since it has a lot of images. It’s great that we have ways to self publish. Hope all goes well with your book too!
I have been querying for the past year and recently had it confirmed that nonfiction authors need to have an established large audience and successful business to be able to go the traditional publishing route. Fiction has a lot more chance but there are many factors at play.
Yes, the credentials seem to be very important too. It’s not enough to be a good writer with great ideas and information that is accurate but you need to already have many people paying attention to your work, either through academics or business.
I recently had a literary agent confirm that it is very rare for nonfiction books to be accepted by agents and publishers unless the author has built up an audience and successful business before seeking an agent and publisher. I wish this would be more widely communicated. #writingcommunity
While enjoying the May flowers I have been toiling away at the more boring part of book creation…back matter. Do you often read things like the appendix, index and bibliography in a nonfiction book?

Even after years of working to understand mixing coloured materials, my mind still wants to recall the old lessons. Those old stories are very sticky. It takes work to remember to remind ourselves of the newer information.

Magenta and orange sing red
I just sent my book to beta readers yesterday and it felt scary but exciting to send the book out for the first time. Similar but less intense to sending my daughter to kindergarten.
