Heya lovely Souls!

We need your help!
Writing music like we do it is extensive, and in order to create more space and focus more of our energy on the band, we would like to invite you to become a patron at patreon.com/cw/soulsplit...

It helps a great deal and it's an honor to have you on board.

Sooo, for a number of reasons we decided to quit Spotify. We filed with our distributor to take our music off the platform.

It's a matter of integrity at this point and we don't want to turn a blind eye on how they are trying to stretch what we're willing to tolerate.

A flyer for a concert event. Depicted the band NeObliviscaris in an artsy foto where the heads of the band members dissipate into a colorful cloud. Special guests for the night are SOULSPLITTER and Precipitation. The event is taking place on Thursday the 7th of August in the Posthalle in Würzburg.

12. WILLOW - Symptom of Life

Talking about authentic vulnerability and breaking the black-and-white public discourse, these are also precisely the topics WILLOW is exploring on her album Empathogen. Symptom of Life specifically asks how are we gonna heal the suffering? Focus on the beauty!

11. R. Glasper, H.E.R., M. Ndegeocello - Better than I imagined

This captures a feeling I know all too well - notoriously living in long distance relationships. It paints a heartfelt image of longing, queer relationships and a flashback to covid and isolation.

10. Waving the Guns feat. Lappalie - In diesen Zeiten tanzen

„How can one dance in times like these?" Fascism is on the rise everywhere. Will not dancing change that? No! It’s time to bring the difficult topics into clubs and fight the oppressors through quality of life and community!

9. Linda Sikhakhane - iGosa

Talking about fantastic musicians that radiate „Spielfreude“, Linda Sikhakhane certainly does as well. His compositions are rooted in Zulu traditions, perceiving music as a healing force through active meditation. And iGosa definitely makes that concept palpable to me.

8. Gleb Kolyadin- Afterglow

Some might know Gelb Kolyadin from his work with iamthemorning, some from his solo work with outstanding Prog legends like Steve Hogarth or Gavin Harrison. His compositions are glowing of „Spielfreude“ - they inspire me to dream, explore and get in touch with myself.

7. Dimmu Borgir - Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy

Dimmu Borgir were my entry drug into Black Metal. The mixture of heavy sounds with amazing technical shouts, fantastic orchestrations and edgy looks - teenage me was in love! When I stumbled over this remaster, I fell in love all over again.

6. E. Rautavaara / C. Currie & Helsinki Phil. Orch. – Incantations: I. Pesante

Don’t let the stark clusters that open this piece drive you away and you might be rewarded with a cathartic experience when they return. It’s this emotional rawness yet compositional finesse I appreciate in Avant-garde.

5. Alon Tamir – Magenta Light

What do Djent and classical Indian music have in common? Excessive use of polyrhythms of course. And one to explain them is the great Yogev Gabay, who guides us through the complexities on his Youtube channel and also exposed me to the just as great Alon Tamir.

4. Shakti – Shrini’s Dream

Only recently have I been aware of the unfortunate passing of legendary Indian Tabla player Zakir Hussain last December. His work, and specifically his work with John McLaughlin in Shakti, were one of the first moments where classical Indian inspired music clicked for me.

3. Vildhjarta - + sargasso +

It’s heavy, it’s emotional, it’s unique, it’s Vildhjarta.

The way they use negative space musically and also in their wide mastering is truly inspiring to me and makes me very excited about what the Swedes will deliver when their album drops this may 30.

2. Zeal & Ardor – Fend You Off

Zeal & Ardor's 2024 release GREIF is definitely one of my top releases of last year, with a bunch of emotional heavy hitters. Fend You Off sticks out to me as a hymn, calling out our separative, “holier than thou” behaviours.

1. Toto – Cruel
Toto is a band I didn’t really grew up with but that I deeply fell in love with during my studies. Cruel is a song that tickles something deep within me. The song is an absolute masterclass by prime Bobby Kimball to make this a banger opener for an absolutely underrated album.
