It's simply light dancing in ice crystals when the air is bitter cold, but the visual and metaphorical beauty found in a pillar of sun on a winter's evening is special to behold.
Monday morning resolution - less mindless distraction, more focus on creating feelings of personal accomplishment, or simply nurturing peace and calm. Hope the week finds you well. 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

A simple pleasure for a dreary day, last week I made a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and froze them so now I can take one out and make it a wee bit melty in the microwave as a treat with my tea. Yummy and cozy.

Red oak. White tail. Fall colours.

Yesterday I ordered new glasses and today I got a nice cut from a new stylist and made an appointment for highlights in the new year before my birthday. Obviously going through a late-life crisis. 😁💁🏼‍♀️👵🏻

Hey NYT, my second guess *should* have been the right answer, this is what’s wrong with journalism these days. 😉🤓

Interesting how shopping the world market has changed some of our fresh produce choices, like the grape-sized blueberries from Peru. They still taste fine in my oatmeal but any larger you’d want to cut them up. 🫐😊

What’s up? iPhone shot of the northern sky outside, better than naked eye but otherwise unaltered. Pinks and greens in the clouds, a rare sight for Nova Scotia, quite the geometric storm.

Monday night “tired of the usual” home cooking. Seared Arctic Char with creamy orzo pasta. Looks fancy but one-pan convenience and tasty. 😋

A personal remembrance album of our family members who served, set to the poignant sounds of The Neighbours Kids. (My husband was in that band in his youth, copy of the cover at the end.) His family suffered heavy losses in WW1, including his grandfather. Lest we forget.

The news from the US often makes me think of an e-book I read last year, written by Sinclair Lewis in 1935, titled “It Can’t Happen Here”. History repeats, crazy-strong parallels throughout the book. Just for fun, I did a relevant keyword search today and here’s what it came up with -

A frequent backyard visitor in our new neighbourhood, friendly photogenic, personality plus. I have yet to learn its actual name, I call it Tabitha, Concordia Cat, or usually just kitty kitty kitty.

Back to blue skies with a few pretty clouds and the hills are alive on the horizon because nobody wants to hear my complaints including me. Have a lovely day. 😊🙏🏻

Cranky today, trying for the umpteenth time to book us a 2nd Shingrix vax that’s less than a 150km drive away, and for being endlessly stuck on the need-a-doc list. Moved across the province to take care of my mother 11 years ago and haven’t had lasting primary care since, so discouraged. 🫤

Was going to donate my snowshoes but I’m keeping them now, because if some short-sighted power-hungry politicians force us into a winter election after negotiation and civil discourse of the budget, I swear to god that I will hike to the goddam polls in a blizzard.

A bright white circle in a pitch black square. Beaver Moon.

So bright and full, it created a perfectly round frame behind the trees, then bathed the clouds in light. Night shots are not my forte but worth venturing into the cold windy yard for a peek and a pic.

Living in an area of very rocky ground and also minutes away from the ocean coast, this is a hard-to-choose photo challenge for me. (A photo library search for "Rock" brings up 5000 results) 😆 A few favourites for the close of week.

Epic game, the old folks are still up. Footnote - Buck Martinez is a treasure, so knowledgeable and steady, perfect accent for baseball.

Bobcat out for a stroll, stops for a munch of grass. Close-up trail cam captures of a wild kitty, so pretty. We strolled that same path this week, nice to see the woods and ponds less dry, and that was before the weekend rain. #Caturday #Bobcat #TrailCam youtu.be/FZ55WENgtAM?...

Well, a porch light and a pumpkin were not enough to attract a single little costumed child eager to accept our handfuls of candy, all is quiet on the road. 🙁 We appreciate the peace and privacy of living in a small neighbourhood, I suppose it’s to be expected. Maybe next year, let’s play ball. ⚾️

A new visitor to the backyard yesterday, coincidence? 🐈‍⬛🎃. Black beauty was promptly chased off by a lovely orange tabby and I’m rethinking my future bird feeding. Scary.

Happy Balloween for those who celebrate. 😊 🎃 ⚾️. When I asked a new neighbour how many treats we should buy, he said it depends on how much we like sweets. Apparently it’s similar to our last place. 🖐️ We’ll likely be okay to tend the door until game time. 🧙‍♀️
