The new Røry single is arguably her best to date. Both the song and the video are absolutely faultless as always.

Most of my male characters are afraid of not being in control, so go to extra effort to reassert control over the situations they find themselves in, often making things even worse.
Whereas the female characters are often more rational
This one is a little easier. No archetypes!

My male characters often mistakenly think they’re the superior gender, when a lot of times it turns out the women are the mentally stronger. Because of all the extra shit they have to deal with that men take for granted. Like being able to walk safely alone at night without fear

Because my male characters so often want to do the right thing, they are almost always easily manipulated; blinded by their own hubris.
One of my ongoing themes I explore a lot in my work is how man is often ultimately more of a threat than any monster they help create.

Mark Woods,uk horror writer, and the one quality that defines all my male characters is determination. Determination to do what they think is the right thing, even if that determination is often misguided.
Ultimately it’s what damns us all - no-one ever thinks they’re the bad guy
Q1 has arrived. It's international men's day today, and I thought actually that's a good topic. Not the easiest one to build questions around, either. So if I do not hit the mark I am sure you will forgive me.
As usual, no links, no pitches, not till the end.

Their #goal was to travel to the far reaches of the universe and converse with alien civilisations, unfortunately the aliens were not so keen and destroyed their ship the moment it first entered orbit.
“Bloody humans,” said one alien.
“Parasites,” said the other, and the first alien nodded.
They’re bloody brilliant, give off real Lake Malice vibes, and definitely now topping my list of bands I want to try and see!

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter.
The Tape house chronologically came first, and acts as a prequel, but One Halloween Night was finished and released first last year as part of my Holiday Horror series.

Well my next book will be The Tape House - my version of the VHS movies where teenagers, trapped in an abandoned house, find themselves watching old videotapes with their names on while trying to escape. Spoiler: the house doesn’t want them to leave…
And what pans do you have in the fire? Got something to promote? Here's your chance.
Thanks for pitching in, you guys make this night a real success.

I try to construct some kind of weapon from things in my room, then wait for whatever to come for me - as I’ve obviously lived through but forgotten whatever’s coming for me from the night before and I’m not going down without a fight.
Obviously I never intend to be stranded in a foreign country. I've been in enough places I can probably handle most things! But what about you, horror bods?

Willow Creek and Wolf Creek are 2 of my favourite movies so I’d probably say camping, or travelling the outback. In either scenario, you’re trapped out in the open, miles from anywhere, nowhere to run to if things go pear shaped. And probably with no phone signal too! I’m so dead.
Not that I'm planning to take notes or anything of course.

No animals. No cats, no dogs, no people - or at least, none after dark. Windows all boarded up, missing person posters, and the announcement of a curfew in place and a warning not to open the door to ANYONE after dark.
So #HorrorWritersChat bods, what would you notice first? Hmm?
Yes there's a theme this week. Clever me huh?
